Everytime these jurors open their mouths to explain their verdict they attest to the stupidity of letting loose a serial killer and a criminal who jumped bail, assumed disguises, whose wife is missing, whose best friend was murdered, who tried to kill his own brother, who admitted killing a man he admitted to dismembering.

If, in fact, they were presented with faulty evidence, justice demanded that they tell the court that they could not come to a decision based on the facts they had. A hung jury would have been surprising, but more acceptable than the not guilty verdict.

Jury duty is akin to voting. If you refuse to do it, you have no right to complain about the outcome. No one who's ever pulled whatever they could to NOT serve on a jury has any right to complain about the leftovers used from the jury pool....

Absolutely -- it makes me sick when I hear people brag about how they gamed the system to get out of jury duty.

I served on a jury for a murder trial last year. This was the first case where a MetroCard was used to dispute a defendant's alibi. Being on the jury was a really interesting learning experience.
