"That whole area is rabid Democrat," said a Democrat chairperson.

Is there any other kind?

But honestly, Barr and Paul are both freedom-loving patriots. I wonder who doesn't like them. Is this a trade for something - like a judge?

Somebody call the WAAAAHMBULANCE for the doctor. I am still in his district unfortunately. He is so far off the map that he has ZERO influence for his district. Great to want to change the system, but not much help for us in our day to day conduct of business. We need a working rep, not an idealogue playing to the Libertarian peanut gallery. I hope like hell he has a decent Republican challenger.

Ron Paul is a "national" congressman. Freedom-loving people everywhere look to him for leadership. He is more than a representative from a district SW of Houston. Kick out your national treasure, if you dare, and see if you are really better off as a result!

I see. So you prefer Republicans that raise discretionary spending 27% in two years.

Now, I know Ron's Iraq position is distasteful. But you can't deny that he is the one guy in Congress that consistently stands up for a strict interpretation of the Constitution, and I believe we need a lot more of that, not less.

Fair warning to you people who are Republicans first, and Americans second: If Ron Paul loses in the primary, I will not vote for any Texas or U.S. legislative candidates.

I'm tired of the damn games our party is playing with freedom.

Want me to think our party is any better than the Democrats? Actions speak louder than words.

What makes you think he has a chance to win a national election?

not much help for us in our day to day conduct of business.

That really should not be the main function of a congressman. He should look out for the national interest, not the parochial preferences for the moment. Davy Crockett of TN understood that. There is a wonderful speech in which Crockett chided Congress for funding any kind of charitable action. Charity is for the individual, not for the government, Crockett explained. Crockett's dedication to principle cost him his House seat. He went to TX and glory (death at the Alamo).

Ron Paul is in many ways the 21st century version of Crockett!

What a crybaby! "Oh, poor me, I'm going to have to work a little bit for re-election instead of waltzing my way with $1.5 million to a walkover victory!"

Geez, Ron, you now have SOME Democrats in your district. You don't think anyone else does? And what's with Mr. Constitution wanting a gerrymandered district so he doesn't have to work for re-election?

Just when I think we are making progress toward not having to fight tough reelection battles every two years, either the Democrats or my own party in this case, throw us another curve ball.
Dude. Stop whining. No one owes you a safe congressional district.

The republicans have been trying to get Paul out of office for years. They don't like Constitution loving patriots.

That's total crap. They moved a ton of Republican "rabid" voters in Tom Delay's district into Ron Paul's.

I'm not sure what brought up this whining fest, but Ron Paul would have no trouble winning this new district if would stop criticising President Bush for a few months.

"I'm tired of the damn games our party is playing with freedom."

One of the reasons our party has to play games is because we can't depend on all Republican Congressmen to support the party's legislation. Ron Paul could never be depended upon to support the party. He consistently voted with the Democrats on important bills.

If we can let the Dems have his seat and pick up a Republican (real Republican) Congressman in the new district it will be a significant achievment.

Ron Paul is consistent in only one thing-- fund-raising. He's just another McCain or Buchanan, tapping the wallets of the malcontents.

I bet this was a fund-raising letter also.

More like he consistently voted with the Constitution on important bills.

Ron Paul's job is easy. He just votes no on everything. How hard could that be.
