His work in the sewers is finally done, and I am sure that he is off to a better place.
A great comedian.

I'm very sad to hear this. He was one of my all-time favorite performers.
May he rest in peace, and may God comfort his family and friends.

I never realized that this was Art Carney. He was in "Lost Boys" and I've seen him in other movies and I never bothered to check the credits...
That was Art Carney from the Honeymooners?

Damn. He was a good guy.

FreeRepublic is funny. Major terrorist attack receives passing notice, but death of old comedian is in bold-faced majuscules. Not criticism, merely observation of irony. Not so ironic when seen in its context.
Terrorists are a dime a dozen. All-American comedic legends are rare.
Two-hundred terrorists could die today and we'd barely bat an eye. But the loss of a man who brought us joy and laughter will always give us pause.

I just heard this a few minutes ago on FNC. One of the all-time greats. He will be truly missed. I saw an interview with Jackie Gleason in which he said 95% of the credit for the success of the "The Honeymooners" belongs to Art Carney.
Art, when you play that first round of golf up there with Jackie Gleason, remember the following: Step up to the tee, plant your feet firmly, and address the ball.....
Rest in peace, Mr. Carney.

A&E recently did an interesting biography on Gleason. As it turned out, Carney couldn't stand him. Gleason was on of the most screwed up people that ever lived.

Before he worked in a sewer he had a classier job as Newton the Headwaiter in Morey's nightclub.
1948-50 The Morey Amsterdam Show.
RIP Newton/Norton and thanks for the laughs.

I don't mean to be flip, but I thought Art Carney died years ago.
