No it isn't. Several weeks ago I listened to a conservative male radio host in my hometown discussing the trial of the woman who took advantage of a young Jewish boy her husband was giving religious training to. The host not only condoned the situation he also admitted he'd had a relationship with one of his female teachers while a student in high school.

There is a chance that a homosexual scout leader could be a pedo of boys. There is no chance that a hetero leader will be a pedo of boys. Seems simple.

As I stated above, many (if not most) child molesters discovered within Scouting are married, and most of those have kids. Do a search and you'll get many links. Most openly gay guys usually are interested in people their own age.

What I'm saying is that if you banned men who had sex with adult men from the BSA, you wouldn't screen out men who have sex with young boys. Especially if they are married and also have sex with women.

The original premise here came from someone who asked "Why doesn't the BSA just hook leaders up to a lie detector and ask them if they are homosexuals?" That doesn't work because a) the BSA isn't interested in getting rid of all homosexuals, and b) a married man who is a child molester doesn't consider himself a homosexual and thus wouldn't come up on the lie detector. Also, it would be incredibly expensive, and the damn things aren't reliable anyway.

When I was involved in Scouting we had a Assistant Scoutmaster that was not married nor did he have any kids.
We thought this a little strange, but he was a heck of a role model, and very knowlegable on many topics and skills all scouts should know.
It was only several years later that I found out he was gay.
I found out at his funeral.
He died trying to save the life of a drowning victim (not a scout) while on a scout canoe trip.
There were some very unkind things said about this man when his sexual preference was known, but almost all of us who knew him through scouting knew him as a good friend and leader.
I would trust MY son with this man, if he was still with us.
Just because someone is gay/homosexual doesn't mean that they are a predator or a pedophile.
