"I find it more than a little interesting that, after a long silence, she's heaping criticism on the war, right after she made her lucrative media deals."

Not to mention, her disability allottment, medal honors and honorable discharge. She knew enough to keep her mouth shut until all those were settled. Must have a good lawyer.

Doesn't it just infuriate you that someone (Rick Bragg???) has falsely told Jessica that she was raped, even sodomized?

Why do you believe that?

That's odd. Becuase we really didn't see that much out of the Pentagon on this from begining to end. Almost all of the stories about what happened to her are and were still media driven and sourced. The press are the ones she should hammer about all of the different versions of her ordeal, but she won't bite the hand that extends her fifteen minutes of fame in this case. I wish her luck, but don't care if I ever hear about her again.

"I was mildly interested in her book, but now have o desire to read it whatsoever."

I won't read it either, but I will go to the local Barnes and Noble and check out who it's dedicated to and the acknowledgements in it.

She also has the right to speak and the country, like it or not, wants to hear from her. I do, if she wants. Her point of view is a valid one where she is concerned.

Sorta like FOX NEWS CHANNEL and their ALL LACI PETERSON ALL THE TIME coverage.

Lynch is one soldier of Millions. Every One has a story. If the Pentagon made more of her story it was because they were concerned with public reaction. But the Pentagon is only a building...there is a larger concern called military honor and discretion.

But did that Iraqi doctor admit that she was abused while she was in the hospital? The man who went to our troops to try to help her out says he personally saw her being hit in the hospital. I'm leery of what the hospital personnel claimed. They might have concerns about war crimes charges.

They used me as a way to symbolise all this stuff. It's wrong.

Why does the BBC not QUOTE this statement? It's not like they forgot to use quotes for some of the other more mild things that she said.

I would much rather see her get on with her life rather then exploiting this for everything it is worth. The stories I want to hear are of the soldiers who saved her. We will never hear of them or from them, and that is a mark of integrity.

I thought the man who brought about the rescue was a lawyer, not a doctor?

"Who had as much business being placed in a combat zone as a pig being taken to church."

Because she's a female, yes and has no business being there. But supply clerks are a part of war...always have been, always will be.

And before anyone gets on me because of my comment about her being a female, I'm a female too...at least the last time I looked I was.

"I did not shoot - not a round, nothing. I went down praying to my knees - that's the last thing I remember."

And army brass consider this heroism? For this Lynch was awarded the Bronze Star? The army evidently has very low standards (at least in some cases) when it comes to recognizing heroism ... or lack of same.

There are two different people being talked about there.

The Lawyer who ran and found the US troops is different from the Iraqi Doctor who was allowed to treat her when the guards would let him in.

The doctor who cared for her when she got to the hospital said that she was fully clothed ( pants buttoned, shirt in tact and no torn buttons).
The man who alerted the troops was a Lawyer who was married to a nurse who worked at the hospital.

Do you have proof of this? I know a lot of people are insisting she was not raped, but so far I haven't seen anything resembling proof. Doesn't mean it's not there, but I haven't seen it. If it exists, I hope someone will post it. (And by proof, I don't mean "I think.." or "I heard...")

Jessica snubs her rescuer Palestine, West Virginia: An Iraqi lawyer who helped US forces in the rescue of Jessica Lynch ended a tour of the soldier's home town today, but he didn't get to meet the young woman because she was too busy recovering from her injuries and preparing for her book's release.

Lynch a No-Show as Iraqi Visits Ex-POW's Town

Washington Post Staff Writer

Tuesday, October 28, 2003; Page A07

PALESTINE, W.Va., Oct. 27 -- The Iraqi lawyer who helped U.S. forces locate Jessica Lynch paid a visit Monday to her home town, where he was showered with affection, gifts and awards. But he was unable to meet the former prisoner of war, who was too busy with other commitments, according to her spokesman
