Excuse me, I read the transcript and it said "sexual intercourse" was what they had, not anal intercourse. Where did you all get the anal reference from?

That's why Congressman Billybob got comepletely ticked off when Bryant's attorney attempted about a half-dozen times to get that woman's name out in the open knowing there were cameras inside the courtroom.

There were no cameras in the courtroom. None.

Every reporter knows who she is, and her name was on the internet (and on this website) 48 hours after charges were filed. If you want to know who she is, you can find out.

As well, her friends were blabbing about her "reputation" to the press for a week before a gag order was imposed. And not all of it was good.

No rape accuser of a celebrity is going to remain anonymous in the internet age.

That may not be a good thing, but that's just the way it is.

Also, you might want to read the O.J. transcripts. Apparently the whole time he's lawyers were trying to say he was innocent. That means it's the truth.

None of this changes the fact Bryant's attorney had tried to get the victim's name out in a courtroom setting. And it does not matter how many reporters know what her name is. Those based in Colorado are legally bound to keep that name out of the press due to the Rape Shield law. You talk about doing an internet search, do one on that law.

So what? Do you know the victim's name as a result of Pamela Mackey revealing it in the courtoom?

I happen to think accuser's names OUGHT to be revealed.

A man was let out of prison today in Texas, four years after he was convicted on the accusation of rape and testimony by his own daughter.

A daughter who now says she made the whole thing up.

Why did the accuser make extroardinary efforts to meet Kobe (including assigning bodyguards to a different part of the hotel - when the hotel was almost empty, etc.) if she was not trying to either set Kobe up or just get in his pants ? Maybe she was raped but I doubt it. I think the intercourse was consensual and perhaps she felt disrespected when he told her to clean up and leave afterwards. In any event, maybe Kobe isn't a nice guy but when you play with fire, sometimes you get burnt. I would suggest that the young lady would profit from becoming more discriminating in her choice of bedmates.

Sheesh. Regarding your rant and rave when others suggest the defense behaved inappropriately by saying her name repeatedly:

The judge told Mackey to knock it off or he'd get her a muzzle.

(And you seem to be a BIG fan of that particular judge.)

I'm on record as saying I have no problem with her name being used in court. But you sure are all excited about this case for whatever reason and feel the need to jump all over people.

"And revealing that woman's name is uncalled for whatever the circumstance. That's why Colorado has something called a Rape Shield law. That's why Congressman Billybob got comepletely ticked off when Bryant's attorney attempted about a half-dozen times to get that woman's name out in the open knowing there were cameras inside the courtroom."

Rape shield laws are BULLSH*T. If Kobe Bryant can have his name, reputation, and intimate details of his life bandied about for public fodder, why should the same benefit not be extended to his accuser ? And why should the intimate details of the accuser's lifestyle not be admissable in a court of law. These are very serious charges leveled against Kobe and the veracity of the accuser must be established. I am unwilling to assume that she is telling the truth in light of her slutty lifestyle. I am sympathetic to real rape victims but in this case, I find it difficult to have sympathy for this so-called victim.

I wonder why the "body guards" or Bryant didn't object?

In this case it was a chair, not a bed.

Well, the chair part is alleged by her...We haven't heard his version of where, or any forensic findings.

And you're all in a dither over this, too, I see. Your choice of language is, uh, interesting, to say the least.

Tom Leykis has been exposing this poor rape victim? It's not surprising, he's a disgusting creep. I think that Howard Stern is his idle.

You jump all over me.

You're pretty damned excited over this case yourself.

The more I hear and see, the more I'm beginning to think he's innocent of the rape charges. Guilty of being incredibly stupid.

I can think of no other way to put this, so I will make it plain: You are a liar.

It is your and sinkspur's attitude that demonstrates more than anything I could do or say why a rape shield law is needed.

For that, I thank you.

It's going to take a while to get all those guys here. They are going to be busy reading and re-reading the 'good' parts of the transcript.

Rape shield laws are feminist inventions.

Any woman can accuse any man of rape, and he is then on the defensive.

Even if she is lying, he is forever branded with the "accused rapist" label.

If a woman brings a charge of rape, she should be as much on the hook as the accused.

In this age of "date rape," it's too easy for women to accuse men of rape, and fade into the woodwork.

The judge also said that the prosecution's evidence was weak.

The judge also didn't sanction Mackey.

The judge also said that the prosecution's evidence was weak.

So what?

The judge also didn't sanction Mackey.

So what? He admonished her. I already said I had no problem with her using the name in the courtroom, but you were hectoring people for objecting to the defense tactic and I pointed out that the defense was in fact in violation of the rules so maybe you ought not tell people they're wrong when they're not wrong.
