Hmmm, Church of Thor, music by Wagner, bare breasted blonds and beer. Well, beer when it's in season, after the hops/rye/barley harvest.
Otherwise kijafa, aquavit, mead and brandies. Not too shabby.

Actually, our English word 'God' comes down from 'Odin,' so there seems to me to be a clear case of the theft of intellectual material.
In any case, when are the going to recognize secularism and/or atheism as the religion is/they-are? Probably not for some time as it would put a hole in the state subsidization and teaching of them.

Well, well. The pre-Christian pagan religions of Northern Europe begin to make a resurgence at a pop level. Actually, that sort of thing has been around since the '60s, with various pagan groups in the US and Europe. The US military even recognizes pagan soldiers and let's them celebrate their ceremonies.
Curious. I am surprised to see the Lutheran Danish state church go for it. (Memo to self: tease Danish friends. Demand more akavit.)

I welcome this. I've come to the conclusion that Christianity is failing in the West because it has failed the West. Once upon a time Christianity was a sword and a shield for Western civilization, but now that sword has been turned against us, and the shield is being pounded over our heads. Praise Odin! The thunder of Thor shall shake the world once more! No more "tolerance", no more "diversity", no more feminized, emasculating beliefs, no more Mr. Nice Guy. The West awakens again!

Standard issue Paganism Not at all. It might or might not be interesting to note that Pagan and Pakistan and Latin pax [peace, quiet] are from the same IndoEuropean root *pak- meaning to join, to enclose, which coincidently means about the same as religion, that which binds things together.

Elliott, have a tankard of mead and calm down. It will be alright. As for me, I am a Norwegian-Texan, I will be sharpening my axe and preparing my longboat.

Pagan deities are mostly symbols of various natural or psychological essences. Dionysus was one of the major ones and more than the god of revelry of the common people. There is a crucifix from some time BC, an amulet that could be worn around the neck. It look like a standard crucifix except the inscription is to Dionysus. It has the same meaning as the later Christian crucifix. Transition to Christianity was very easy for Mediterranean people because they already had the same concepts and symbols.

Odin means literally 'the one.' "Neo" in The Matrix is an anagram of "One".
So I wonder. If there was an Odin character in the story universe, would he be Dino? Dion? Niod? Doin'? Onid? Nodi?

We also have Tuesday-Friday to thank the Norse for. Especially the awkward a$$ spellings.

Look up the history of Pakistan and you'll see it is an acronym created by the British to represent Pushtu, Afghan, Kurd and Indian subgroups. Nice try, though. Thanks for playing.

Hmmm, Church of Thor, music by Wagner, bare breasted blonds and beer. Beats the religion of peace all to hell.
Correct, plus you forgot one other thing ..... Vikings had an honor code .... unlike mooselimbs.

Odin means literally 'the one.' Unity of allUnitarians are such heretics. For some time they were outlawed in a number of the colonies.
