The laws are a farce that everyone ignores.

Mexicans live with this farce in Mexico, and bring this attitude with them to America. Our government rolls out the red carpet to them despite the fact that they break our laws. I think that makes our laws a farce too, only American citizens have to follow the law, not illegal aliens.

Aren't you supposed to ping someone if you dis them? I don't know what your previous discussion was, but I'd agree that most illegals are hardworking, and keep to themselves. I have met and gotten to know many, and yes, they are human. Most are honest--just like most American citizens are honest and hardworking--except for the glaring fact that they BROKE OUR LAWS to get here. That's really the primary reason I'm so opposed to what is happening now. It's one thing to talk about a steady, controlled stream, with a hard line assimilation process. But with millions coming, assimilation is impossible. And so the ideas and attitudes in our government will shift towards theirs, as they elect more and more of their ethnicity to public office. Note that the peculiar "compelling interest" that Justice O'Connor asserts we have in ethnic diversity turbocharges this process, propelling far more Mexicans into American government then their electoral numbers warrant.

And so we get the corruption and incivility of Mexico in our city and state governments. Think of it as a virus in the body politic...

Here in San Antonio TX the city telephone messages are set up in spanish first then english. When I called the Board of Elections this morning to see where I go to cast my vote, the spanish message came on before the english.
