The Yanks have been my favorite AL team since I was 4 yrs old. The Marlins my favorite NL team of the last 10 yrs. This is excellent news and will give Donnie B. a chance at a ring again.

If all Mattingly accomplishes is to get Soriano, Posada, and Giambi to hit to the opposite field on outside pitches, his hiring will be an overwhelming success.

As a native New York Stater, a Yankee fan from long ago but not presently...my story..
back visiting the family several years ago, we went down to NYC for a game....they played the Mariners..my team now since we live in Washington...
my brother got us special tickets about three rows in off of first base.....so very close to Don Mattingly...
of course, that was a special game...Randy Johnson pitched and Ken Griffey Jr hit his first grand slam home run.....quite the night....

Willie Randolph, who had been third base coach for the last 10 years, becomes bench coach in place of Don Zimmer...... Lee Mazzilli, the first base coach for the past four years, replaces Randolph as third-base coach Good. Randolph, as much as I respect the guy and admired his playing abilities, is simply not a good 3rd base coach. He has sent countless runners who've been thrown out by 10 ft, and conversely has held up runners who would've scored easily. ....He's just never had a good feel for it.

Mattingly is the Yankees kiss of death. They never one a single championship with this unlucky rabbit's foot.
I think he may have been concocted in some evil Red Sox fan's laboratory as the poor man's answer to the curse of the bambino.
Schleprocks back, and hes bringing his rain cloud with him!

Maybe he can make Jeter more clutch....rolls eyes. The Yankees should have beat the Fish, but I hope they fail for years to come because they let Angel of Death (Jeff Loria) win a WS when he should be banned from baseball.

The Yanks are victims of the Hillary Curse. They have not won since she they elected her to office. They won't win again until she is gone. Let's hope gone is not to D.C., but rather to perhaps Leavenworth or Alcatraz.

Mattingly was the man at first, glad to see he's coming back. I knew there was no way Donnie Baseball could stay away for long.

How many World Series championships did the Yankees win while Mattingly was with them? Just curious.
To: Lancey Howard
They won the year before Mattingly arrived and they won the year after Mattingly left.
He is to Yankee World Championships as Gilligan is to island rescue.

Willie Randolph, who had been third base coach for the last 10 years, becomes bench coach in place of Don Zimmer, who quit the day after the Series loss, saying he would never again work for Steinbrenner. Well Zimmer can always go back to Boston and wait to be beaten by the Yanks again. I'm sure he has a huge poster of Bucky Dent hanging in his den.

Angel of Death (Jeff Loria) win a WS when he should be banned from baseball.Could you fill me in on this? I don't know anything about the owner.

Ahhhhhhhhhh ... thanks for the memories. :-)
I hope this is true; my beloved Yankees desperately need a batting coach, who can shake up some of the overpaid losers.
