Dixie, it has to have been a long time since you went to the south side of Aiken. Whiskey Road there is a happenin' area now.

I assume you remember where The Mall is located with Sears and Penney's, etc... Across the road from it, Lowe's built a huge new store - the old building now houses a Hobby Store.

By and just above the Mall where Publix is are all kinds of new eating places - Golden Corral, a new IHOP, Red Lobster, Friday's, etc.

A block below that is another shopping center now with Target, Pier I, Michael's Crafts, Goody's (new location) and others.

There are fast food places of every description between Wal-Mart and there - Home Depot is in the shopping center above Shoney's. Ryan's larger new location is just below honey's ,across the street from its old one.

The road has been repaved and a center turn lane and several traffic lights added - it is booming!

I approach Aiken from that South 19 direction, so it is the closer area to me...go around and up to the Hospital area where my physicians are located.
