IIRC from my obscure history collection, muhammed was a cat person. He hated dogs. Therefore dogs are shunned in islam. The name of his favorite cat has survived history, although I have forgetten it. I'm sure if 'hammed hated brussel sprouts, they would have ended up on the islam unclean list.
