"Since I can't afford an Internet Tax, where do I sign up to receive Internet Welfare?

In addition I'll be needing to receive Surfing Security."

******

We surfin' seniors don't need Internet Welfare or Surfing Security ... we just don't need our Internet and E-Mails TAXED!!

My little WebTV is more than a luxury ... it keeps a homebound senior (I don't drive) aware of even more than talk radio can. I am thinking of FreeRepublic and other sites that are right on top of conservative intelligence and current events.

Taxing this might just take it away from us.

Under pressure from the National Governors Association and others who see a digital cash cow in cyberspace, George Voinovich of Ohio and Lamar Alexander of Tennessee have bucked their President and party leaders by joining Democrats Maria Cantwell of Washington and Kent Conrad of North Dakota in holding up the bill. If these renegades are successful and the ban lapses, watch for the tax man to pounce.

Ready for some industrial strength irony?

Lamar Alexander is a dot-bomber.

He was the driving force behind Simplexis.com, an online source of discount school supplies. In its first press release in February 2000, Simplexis said it could save schools a projected $10 billion dollars annually -- another great idea on paper, and a lousy one in the three-dimensional world -- at least, it wasn't a good enough idea to keep the San Francisco headquarters from closing up shop.

I am very familiar with this company for a variety of reasons, but the biggest one is that at this moment, I am wearing a shirt with the Simplexis.com logo.
