Can you even buy a cap gun anymore? I loved cap guns when I was a little girl. I've told my boys have I had cap-six-shooters in a holster and played cowboys and Indians or just used a hammer to pop off a roll of caps. They find themselves wishing they lived back when I was a girl--when life wasn't so restricted.
I have explained to them how some children back in the 70's got shot by accident when holding realistic toy guns and that began the movement against toy guns (and I add the aside that things have gone too far). That's okay, they don't know about the Christmas b-b gun that is coming.

This happened in my town. I know the cop who arrested the kid and his mother. The media's been here several times already.
One of our guys was on the cover of one of the Street Survival books shooting a guy who had a fake gun.
We've also had 11 year olds pulling armed robberies.

As if a 9 year old never got ahold of a real gun.

If you want to see a picture of "Cap'n Crunch" you can go to the city of Lorain website, city of Lorain Police Dept. Check under the "in memoriam" section. Go to "Officer William Brown", there is a portion you can click on. It will show a picture of our SWAT team carrying his casket. As your looking at the picture I'm the pall-bearer on the right hand side in the front.
There's also a picture of our team at the top, home site. We just got done doing a search of a house where a shooting had occured. Note the pit bull in the background.

The original definition of SWAT was Special Weapons Attack Team. A special team that attacks weapons? Do you have a source?

This means if you are arrested for a non-crime these scum can still turn it into a crime for manufacturing the cheap charges of resisting arrest, obstruction, and assault on a police officer. In this case it is the officer that should have been charged for being crimminally dumb.

The original definition of SWAT was Special Weapons Attack Team I thought it was "Special Weapons And Tactics". You often saw it as the SWAT team or SWAT squad.

Why do you assume the action was "mindless", or "innocent"? Isn't it more likely that the whole point of these sorts of responses is to normalize hysterical overreaction to the mere sight of guns in the possession of anyone other than Government? You underestimate our enemies. The whole point was to burnish the cop's ego. Things do happen in this world without being part of some conspiracy.

just used a hammer to pop off a roll of caps best done inside an empty garage, with the door open. Today that would bring the SWAT team around. :)

Um, they SHOULD arrest him. A nine-year old boy with a gun is a danger. But he did not have a gun, he had a piece of plastic that looked like a gun.

Please note given the nature of the toy gun and the possible confusion I can see the officer being very concerned. I noted the CT law regarding display of a firearm and how sometimes here it is brought to an extreme. This goes down as one of those cases I do not have enough info to discuss in detail.

(This is my tagline. There are many like it, but this one is mine.)
Given all the places that allow concealed carry now, hopefully some citizens will eventually gain the courage to stand up to idiot cops like this in the future. He would be mighty surprised to look up and see a half-dozen citizens with their guns trained on him.
To: spodefly
Why yes, just look at what they're doing!
That girl is armed with an assault rifle, and she's going to ambush the next innocent person to walk through that door with an over-the-shoulder shot (a favorite of terrorists everywhere) !
Not only is that boy armed with a saturday night special, he is clearly passed out from doing drugs. He must be a libertarian.
Notice the violent war imagry they're watching, that is a plea for help!
And is that a PIT BULL he's feeding??!!!!!
Someone call Officer Joe Novosielski!! He'll save us!
