Maybe I need to clarify myself.

I'm not suggesting we drop liquid nitrogen on the entire fire; what I am suggesting is dropping devices filled with liquid nitrogen near threatened buildings, so the wall of flame coming towards the threatened area will be stopped cold (in this case quite literally). The quick removal of a supply of oxygen to keep the fire going and very rapid drop in temperature from the vaporization of liquid nitrogen both will quickly stop a big fire from expanding. I've read they tried this on stopping oil well fires in Kuwait after Operation Desert Storm and it worked extremely well in dousing the oil well fires.

I think one of those pictures might be my brother. Is it possible to get the one with the firefighter in the street with the hose and the one of the men at the structure fire emailed to me (trncoord@northcoast.com)??

In the Air Force, we put LN2 on C-5A Galaxies (in a Dewar system) to displace oxygen in the fuel tanks. We froze many a beetle and cockroach with it on the ground. It would cool a trash can full of water and beer (in cans) pretty fast too!
