What cracks ME up is that the Democrat Party Operatives in Washington went out to recruit a talk show host--the MARKET did not demand a liberal talk show host....I suspect this project will wind up like most "government knows best" ideas: in the dung heap.

Absolutely. Plus, if this guy were so entertaining, he wouldn't be in the Fargo market to begin with.

Was Fargo in the red or blue area of the 2000 map?
To: Alcibiades
I think fargo might have been purple, or a mauve ;)

"The Democrats are getting the tar beat out of them constantly by Limbaugh and Hannity, and they feel they don't have a platform," Schultz said. "There's this conservative mantra that's being jammed down the throats of the American people... Yes, jammed down their throats. Limbaugh actually sits in peoples car and forces them to tune in. People have no choice in the matter, there is only one station to listen to.

Schultz is known around the country, even though he's basically in a small market, one that's off the beaten path.
"I had every intention of running for governor
until this project came up," Schultz said.

I think Ed and the Democrats will get a good lesson in supply and demand. I hope they spend MILLIONS to promote him.

Ed's Personality Profile From KFGO.COM
The familiar voice of talk radio in the valley works at KFGO. Ed Schultz brings his fiery style to the air weekday mornings from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. Ed has spent the majority of his broadcasting career doing play-by-play, sports news and of course the type of talk radio that has made him the true editorial voice of the Red River Valley and beyond. For over 10 years, Ed has been doing compelling talk-radio in the Fargo market.
And, now with the show extended throughout the Dakotas, Minnesota and Canadian provinces on The Clear channel Radio Network, Ed's voice is more popular than ever!
Ed prides himself on letting the caller express his or her opinion regardless of whether he agrees or not. Give Ed a call during "News and Views," weekdays from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, or just listen. It's a great way to start the day.
Drop Ed an email at edkfgo@aol.com.

That's got to be the worst "professional" website I've seen.
And he also felt it necessary to reassure all his listeners that he is still the #1 show demographically speaking by posting the always fascinating arbitron ratings, unformatted of course.
Sheesh, conservatives talk is now officially doomed...

I suspect this project will wind up like most "government knows best" ideas: in the dung heapOr - institutionalized (a la Social Security, the welfare state, etc.) such that a.) We never get rid of it, and b.) the taxpayers end up footing the bill forever.
To: Recovering_Democrat
Don't be so sure.
They always have the liberal fall back position....put him on NPR for 3 hours a day.
Then he can be minimally marketable and WE can pay for it.

Schultz sounds like the prefect liberal:
"I see Nothing!"
"I know Nothing!"
To: Recovering_Democrat
Just wait until you start having to pay for it. Like you do for NPR. Don't say it can't happen. Who would stop the Dems from passing legislation to make it happen? When it starts needing money to survive they will find that money in your pockets.

The birthplace of liberalism Fargo.
Of all the Left coast or Northeastern markets they could have found someone they go to Fargo?
To: Recovering_Democrat
He said a half-dozen stations are looking at whether to carry it. Oh wow. Six whole stations are looking at whether to carry it. Looks like a storm tide to me.
To: Recovering_Democrat
Funny thing. Limbaugh created his own place in the market without political powers pumping in cash to prop him up. He burst into prominence before many inside the beltway had even heard of him. Republican leaders latched onto him after he'd already proven his success.
Now the libs are trying their own version, and of course it involves central planning and funding from above. Not even a thought of waiting to see whether any host could do it on his own. No wonder we can't trust these guys with the economy.
To: Always Right
The sweet thing about this? It appears KFGO, where this new Liberal Messiah is arriving, is a
CLEAR CHANNEL station--the same conglomerate that came under attack by John McLame and others for not promoting diversity....apparently because they run Limbaugh.
BWA HA HA HA HA HAHA!
