What I find confounding, is the amount of posts claiming
that removing her feeding apparatus would be akin to killing
her; that eating and drinking is absolutely important to
the sustenance of life.
Any method used to sustain the life of an individual that
can not live without that device, is classified as a life
support system. It is an artificial means of supporting
and continuing that individual's life.
The smug remark and comments regarding "the only
thing she is not doing", is a total wash of fact and
logic. You may fool a bleeding heart liberal, but
you aren't going to fool me or any court of law.
re:
"Terri was a devout and practicing Roman Catholic. Roman Catholicism does not allow for euthanasia."
Terri would have been dead 13 years ago if she
hadn't been placed on that life support system
as a temporary measure to sustain her life until
a complete and thorough prognosis was made.
After that report, her family has fought every
attempt to remove her from that temporary
life support system.
The Church does not frown upon those that
are being kept alive by mechanical means and
who are wishing to remove themselves from
that system. It, in fact, places that soul back
into God's hands.
Please get your own facts in order?
Conversing with you is a waste of time. I've said my piece and you've posted inaccuracy and inanity. Go away now.
You were not "conversing"; not even close, my friend.
Lie after lie after lie... Is that you, Michael?
There many thousands of people who don't eat through their mouths for one reason or another. They eat through a feeding tube. This isn't "life support", it is an alternate method of feeding. Removing it causes the same reaction that you would have if you stopped eating and drinking.
I'll bet if I place your ear against mine, I'd hear the Ocean.
Look.... If the only thing wrong with Terri was an inability to
eat and drink normally, I would be fighting tooth and nail to
stop any removal of that feeding system.
The fact? Terri has no cerebral cortex. Without that,
she has only some involuntary movements. If she can think
or not, is unknown. What is known, is if she can think,
she will never have any way to show anyone that she can.
That, is fact. That is sad; Very, very, very, horribly sad.
Please do not bother to quote any of Terri's family's
comments regarding Terri's responses to their stimuli.
Absolutely no legal or medically qualifying proof has
ever been provided giving any indication that Terri has
any voluntary responses, whatsoever. There has never
been any suggestion that Terri can be restored to have
any form of normalcy.
Terri's problems are more complex and complete, than
a simple "can't eat" diagnosis.
Do you seriously think that a court order to remove her life
support system would be employed, if Terri's only problem
was her inability to feed herself?
Please do not waste your time answering, if your answer
will continue to contain the rhetoric it has.
Terri & Michael when there was hope for Terri -- ie, before the '92 lawsuit.
