All good points- tough satellites are also vulnerable from ground lasers. Airships at 70,000 feet or more are not vulnerable to anything folks like Iraq or Iran can throw up. And if they are always there, it is hard for folks to work around them.
Mobility of any extent, is very difficult for large satellites- takes too much fuel. One satellite can revisit a specific spot on the earth only a few brief times per day at best.
But as an ASAT the SBL is very good as you suggest.

Really a huge success for Army, but the OSD will not committ funds. Why do you think this is so? Rum wants an abl, look at his Rumsfeld Report, and many comments.

As a former pilot on the ALL in the 70's, I can attest that ABL's do work, and I have high confidence that the ABL will eventually work. However, as you point out, the cost is large and growing! I do not have high confidence in the Boeing team to produce the project on cost or schedule.

If you give him some encouragement, he will get pumped up to a higher energy level. After some internal reflection, his sense of humor will become more focused and shine brighter than ever. DAMN IT PEOPLE! Have you not smidgeon of shame among you?!?!
I think I'll have another brewster and leave this thread to you engineering geeks.

Ever use the Yamamoto Cannon in Starcraft???I'll take the Prometheus xasers with dual Maxim cannons from Freespace 2 anyday.
Now, if I can fit the things on the rollbar of my Wrangler...

You think two inches of steel is a lot?
Anti-armor will be least of it's roles, if at all.
