I do not agree that 'we' (I was not there) should go out of our way to avoid confrontation - it's part of the game and part of the risk. Then go ahead and knock yourself out. Just don't ask children, mothers, fathers and pregant women to join you.

Note that "we" (I was not there) means "I" am not a part of the group being discussed, and "I" cannot therefore speak for them, and "My" opinions are not directly pertinent to their actions or their motives.
Had "I" been there, "I"'d have at least known that being whipped up on was an option, not a good one unless you are into press coverage and outrage, but an option nonetheless.
