Good. Illegal labor only costs us. I heard on MSNBC today that, even if illegal labor prices doubled for even food production, that costs would only raise 10% in the food market.

This stuff is awful, and must be stopped on all levels. Bring the jobs back for citizens!

Now perhaps the Government will do the same thing and check to see if there are any illegal aliens receiving Government benefits.

I know, fat chance.

Great, you want to pick fruit. I know dozens of fruit farmers in Michigan that would love to hire you....

That old argument.

The whole thing is, they could pay reasonable wages, since labor costs are a small fraction of food production.

Wow... I guess there was no farming industry before the influx of illegal aliens started in the early 70's. Who picked the fruit then?

"You don't have to call the (Department of Motor Vehicles) and verify that this person actually has a driver's license," she said.

Pleeeaase!

If Wal-Mart is found to be a criminal, will it be sent to prison?

Don't get too excited..., this is just "PR B.S."! Current law merely requires that employees present rudimentary ID and sign an "I-9"! Employers are not permitted to inquire further! IN FACT..., IF THEY DO, THEY ARE PRIME CANDIDATES FOR BEING SUED... THEY ARE VIOLATING THE "CIVIL RIGHTS" OF THOSE WHOM THEY ASK "UNLAWFUL QUESTIONS"!

It is a total SHAM if you expect anything to come of WalMart's "Pledge"......

Well, maybe you ought to run a food production company and hire a bunch of union workers. I am sure you will be rich in no time.

Unfortunately, one cannot file criminal charges against a legal entity

Maybe this will scare all other companies into doing the same thing. We will see good or bad the out come.

I couldn't agree more. I'd happily pay 10% more for food if it meant good paying jobs for more Americans, and even for legal aliens.

Okay, now that Wal-Mart is going to check their own associates, can they legally ask for documents from the owners of the subcontractor who hired the cleaners?

For that matter, can they check on their soft drink or bread vendors that traipse through the store? How about the roofing contractor who comes in to do repairs after a storm?
Or the snow removal business they contract with?

Where does it end and why did it start in the first place?

I smell a big fat racist rat here. The illegals caught at Wal-Mart by the INS were all Whites of eastern European orgin.

Compare that to the water and food rest stops put up by the federal government in the desert for the ones streaming by the millions out of Mexico into the us.

They are out to get Whitey, make no mistake about it.

Good, point. I say hold all sub-contractors accoutable, and if Walmart knew illegals were being hired, hold them accountable as well.

The White eastern Europeans were all that was reported yesterday. Looks like today they had to have some token Mexicans, not to worry they will be back to work in a day or so.
