Good point, PL, no point throwing the bathwater out with the baby.

Vinroot is the frontrunner and we should all get behind him.

And push him the hell off the ice flow for the sea lions to get him.

Big Yawn... There is no way Vinroot will be competitive in the primary. He has simply damaged his credibility with too many Republicans across the state. While he has name recognition from losing twice before, he has personally diss'd key party activists in numerous districts. Even if the primary voters wanted a RINO, they would look elsewhere

Cutting taxes and increasing pay? Wait a minute. That sounds very similar to my plan. I promise to cut taxes and write a check for one million dollars to every man, woman, and child in NC. We'll all be millionaires!

There is some chance that not all of the checks will clear the bank.

Dan, thanks for the ping.

Johnny, who are the electable candidates running for the GOP gubernatorial nomination in NC? And, off the subject, have you heard anything new on Vernon Robinson's chances in the 5th congressional district? I just got a letter from Alan Keyes endorsing Robinson and one from Robinson saying that the frontrunner for the GOP nomination (I assume he meant State Senator Virginia Foxx) is in favor of homosexual rights and has raised taxes numerous times. If Robinson doesn't win the nomination, I think our only real chance of electing a black Representative in 2004 will be State Senator Jackie Winters in Oregon's 5th CD (Hooley's district), who filed to run on October 1. Here's her Senate page: http://www.senateleadership.com/winter.htm

I think they're all electable . . . kind of. Except Vinroot. And that Cook guy. They each have their strengths. I'd feel okay going in with Cobey, Barrett, or Little, not as good a vibe from the state senators (Btine & Fern), but I'm afraid my opinion on this subject is worth the paper it's printed on. (Notice it's not even printed on paper.) Right now, Easley wins. And with the economy improving, and Mike not doing anything WRONG in that he doesn't do . . . anything . . . it's hard to mobilize against him. We'll see.

And, off the subject, have you heard anything new on Vernon Robinson's chances in the 5th congressional district?

Crapshoot. He's had decent fundraising and is one of the top three candidates. The only person really taking votes from him is Jim Snyder, bless his heart. With Broyhill in the race and Tabor and Helvey well-funded, I like Vernon's chances of making the runoff, though winning it is another story.

If Dimroot is tapped by the Republican party, You can count on another Libertarian vote in NC.
