I've found that listening to a recording of the offending song usually ends the problem for me.

No Cure for Songs Stuck in Your Head? Think about a different song. Problem solved.

There IS a cure.
Put a different CD into your CD player than the one that's playing in your head. Jars the process and sets the thinker free to pursue any other activity without THE song interfering. ;-)

I learned "Go Tell Aunt Rody" on the recorder too! It's awful, up in the same category as "It's a Small World" and "Chopsticks" for the piano.
One of the worst earworms I ever had was bagpipe music, "Scotland the Brave". I had heard it on a commercial or show and it was there for over a week. I was even whistling it.
And normally I like bagpipes, just not the same 4 bars circling around and around my head for days on end.

Or
This is the song that never ends
It just goes on and on my friends
Some people started singing it not knowing what it was
And then they kept on singing it if only just because
This is the song that never ends
it just goes on and on my friends, etc.

I was looking for a hammer you could use on the recorder, but this one is probably better:

"This is the song that never ends,
Yes it goes on and on my friends.
Some people started singing it,
Not knowing what it was,
And now continue singing it
Forever just because
This is a song that never ends,
Yes it goes on and on my friends.
Some people started singing it,
Not knowing what it was,
And now continue singing it
Forever just because
This is a song that never ends . . . .
Repeat as necessary . . .

Its not so much the voices, but its the things they say to each other, and they always turn on me....

Jeremiah was a bullfrog!
Was a good friend of mine
Never understood a single word he said, but I helped him drink his wine...Singing
Joy to the World
All the boys and girls
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

Thanks....I
like that one and it has chased the worst of the earworms from this thread away...
I shall keep that one in my head the rest of the day.
I shall let no other intrude.

Love it! The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald was "our" song. No wonder the marriage didn't last. The song outlined the marriage!
