I cannot image the despair her family is experiencing, let alone Terri, a woman trapped in a body that doesn't work right. If she really cried and tried to get up when told they would starve her, how cruel and sick this whole thing is. Our society is devolving into primitive animal behavour with the assistance of the courts. May God have mercy on us.

Why does 'Judge' Greer seem so dedicated to ending Terri's life? I just find it odd that he seems to be going out of his way to help Schiavo finish the job on Terri.

Media Ignore Fight for Woman's Life
By William R. Alford
October 14, 2003

An incapacitated Florida woman is scheduled to be deprived of food and water on October 15, despite being conscious and responsive, but unable to speak. Theresa Marie (Terri) Schindler Schiavo was 26 when she collapsed in 1990 from a possible potassium imbalance that cut off oxygen to her brain. The extent of her brain damage is the focus of considerable dispute.

Her husband Michael successfully sued for malpractice and was awarded a total of $1.3 million in November 1992 in punitive and compensatory damages. Although promising the jury that the monies would be used for his wife's care, Michael Schiavo refused to allow Teri rehabilitation therapy, including that which would promise to wean her from the feeding/hydration tubes that sustain her.

Within months of the original jury award, Michael Schiavo insisted that Terri not be resuscitated if the need arises. Fortunately for her, it has not.

Michael, his brother and his brother's wife had testified that Terri had confided that she would not want her life sustained using such methods upon which she now depends. This wish was not related to the original malpractice jury - they were told that Terri had a normal life expectancy and that funding was required for ongoing medical care.

Terri's parents thus became skeptical of Michael's motives and petitioned to have him removed as guardian in July 1993. The petition was denied. For his part, Michael has been litigating to stop feeding his wife since May 1998, spending an estimated $600,000 in legal fees to achieve his objective. Terri's parents have stretched their own personal finances to keep her alive and have set up a foundation seeking financial help: http://www.terrisfight.org/Framesets/DonationFrame.htm

The wire services have sporadically reported this ongoing story, but it is largely unknown outside of Florida because the major media outlets have virtually ignored it. Apparently there are some aspects that Big Media considers to be too inflammatory:

Michael has a fiancé, Jodi Centonze with whom he has been living for nearly seven years. They have produced one child together and another is on the way. Rather than seeking divorce [which would remove him as an heir], Michael plans to marry Centonze upon Teri's death.

Florida Circuit Court judge George Greer ruled that artificial feeding be halted in February 2000. He further ordered that part of the original malpractice award pay for security to protect Teri from being fed by her family [and for his own personal protection]. After more than a year of litigation, the feeding was discontinued in April 2001 and, after a series of hearings and motions, resumed after 60 hours of starvation/dehydration. The litigation continued.

Terri's parents insist that she is mentally impaired, but not a 'vegetable.' They have posted videos of her looking at and responding to people around her, but Michael's doctors insist her reactions are merely unconscious reflexes. Judge Greer would not allow Terri to be examined or treated by any doctors not approved or selected by Michael Schiavo or himself.

After receiving nearly 27,000 letters, Governor Jeb Bush's office filed an amicus curiae memorandum in federal court, requesting that Terri be allowed a sufficient period of rehabilitative therapy to facilitate self-feeding and hydration before the artificial methods are discontinued. On Oct. 10, U.S. District judge Richard Lazzara ruled against hearing the case, citing lack of jurisdiction. This ruling cannot be appealed. The tubes will be removed as ordered at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Dear Governor Bush,

Please get off your oh-so-busy ass and take Randall Terry's advice. A murder is about to be committed with your complicity.

Thank you,

They should let a network news crew into her room for 2 weeks and see what happens. Let them roll tape. Just bring someone in impartial and let them document her current condition.

This might bring about 2 things. One, people would see that she is aware or she is not. Either way, she'll be harder to kill if she is seen by the public.

In the midst of doing this post I found video clips of this women here.

WTF is going on here? This person is far from brain dead!

"I don't want anyone trying to feed that girl," Greer thundered.

Schiavo and the judge should be charged with attempted murder, because that's exactly what this is. If Terri dies, you can remove the "attempted".

I wish that the clips we've all seen of her responding to her parents will be shown. There are too many ignorant of the facts that just take the word of the court that she is in a vegetative state.

Doh. I got worked up and didn't read that it was Hannity's radio show. Well, he should still show them on his tv show.

This is disgusting that this sort of thing can happen. She has a right to life.

It might help if Sean gets a lot of email before his program tonight - so that he devotes plenty of time to Terri.

May God have mercy on the soul of the husband and the judge if this woman is killed.

Although, the husband collected monies for her care and rehab, he has spent it already, and not on her. He and the judge will not allow her the rehab necessary to know if she can swallow food and water on her own.

I know why the husband wants her dead, but this judge is a mystery. Does he have some family history of health related situations such as this?

Because with rehab services maybe Terry could communicate that the reason why her heart stopped 10 years ago was because her abusive husband tried to kill her ???

Florida Court: Removal of brain-damaged woman's feeding tube can proceed Wednesday
Associated Press ^ | 10-14-03

Posted on 10/14/2003 2:45 PM PDT by Brian S

VICKIE CHACHERE, Associated Press Writer Tuesday, October 14, 2003

(10-14) 14:38 PDT PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (AP) --

An appeals court on Tuesday refused to block the removal of a severely brain-damaged woman's feeding tube, one of the last hopes her parents had for keeping her alive.

The state court in Lakeland rejected motions by an attorney for the parents of Terri Schiavo, who is scheduled to have the feeding tube removed Wednesday at her husband's request.

Schiavo, 39, is expected to die within two weeks after the tube is removed. She's been in a vegetative state since suffering a heart attack in 1990.

Michael Schiavo says he is carrying out his wife's wishes that she not be kept alive artificially. The parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, say their daughter could be rehabilitated. Doctors disagree.

"Our legal remedies are exhausted," the Schindlers' attorneys said.

Pinellas Circuit Court Judge George Greer has ordered the tube be removed at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

A Schindler attorney, Pat Anderson, had wanted the appeals court to remove Greer from the case, and sought a stay and therapy for Terri Schiavo.

Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said Tuesday the case is "very troubling."

"This is not an easy situation for anyone. But at the end of the day, if it's possible for this woman to be able to continue to live without life support, then she should be able to do that...I don't know if that's the case or not, we'll never know if it stands where it is right now."

The judge's reasons I cannot fathom. This woman's right to life should supercede any divorce and guardian law. The argument that she did not want to live like this comes only from the word of the husband. Does marriage in Florida equate to slavery, wherein ownership of the woman is conferred to the husband?

I just don't know. Maybe the judge just has deemed her useless and thinks useless people should just be killed. That's how it's looking.

Yes, that is exactly what I think. The husband has already gotten money because of her, although he did not spend it on her care.

He may well receive other money after she is dead, by order from the judge. But, I do not think that is his motive for killing his wife.

He has a new life with a woman and children. He could easily divorce his wife and make her a ward of the state or give her back to her parents. They have stated publically that he could keep any money when she died.

There is something insidously evil about this case....and I think he wants her dead for a very good reason. She might very well incriminate him if rehabilated.

I know she can’t take solids at this time but perhaps we could all start sending Terri pizza tomorrow and see what kind of coverage this gets in the mainstream media?
