Didn't Mary end up getting fired after bailing him out? I believe she left to form her own committee to explore running for the Democratic Nomination for President. (just kidding)

Humor me on this scenario: Dean wins the nomination for Dem prez candidate. Clark runs as an independent (ala Ross Perot). Who does he hurt most, Bush or Dean?

Thanks.
In any case, if these incidents examples of the "Mach 3" thinking Hackworth was talking about, I'd say Clark is at the terminal end of a Mach 3 nosedive right into the dirt...

Hated by the military? Hogwash.
I saw a short clip of Clark working a line of military persons in uniform recently. You could tell by their faces that they would rather have been somewhere else.
After a couple of lukewarm handshakes from them, he slapped this male soldier on the shoulder and then actually grabbed him with both hands and shook him. It was pitiful, I tell you.

Who does he hurt most, Bush or Dean? Good question!
The answer lies in how Clark does over the coming months. Right now, he is toast, but ignorance rules and independents who do not research him may fall for the Eisenhower routine.

Sheesh. You gotta be kidding.

Who does he hurt most, Bush or Dean?Since he is running as a Dem at this moment, that will be what the electorate sees him as when he switches. He hurts only the Democrats, splitting their vote, and perhaps drawing some of the left leaning independant vote. That would leave the Republicans very strong.
To: jocon307
Isn't this tactic liable to backfire on Clark? Wouldn't the typical Democrat primary voter, being told that President Bush is hated by the uniformed military, be inclined to think maybe Bush isn't as bad as he's been made out to be?
To: Semper Paratus
Oh how I want someone, anyone, to confront him on that statement. It will come out eventually, maybe in a comical campaign commercial with him being beamed to the White House...it is going to be so sweet..

how much he claims they are hated by the uniformed military. From all the info I have seen, it is Clark who is hated by the uniformed military. Sheesh, he was pulled from command due to matters concerning his "integrity and character".

I read in a Yankees/White Sox thread earlier that Yankees pitcher Nellie was throwing punches and "Flaring" his legs. That sounds a lot like flailing???? Could it be that Nelson is working with Clark?

From all the info I have seen, it is Clark who is hated by the uniformed military. Sheesh, he was pulled from command due to matters concerning his "integrity and character".I remember that, when General Sheldon, who has known Clark a long time, stated such. General Shwartzkoph and Powell are also not big fans of Clark. From what I read in a business magazine, the line on Clark, is that he is arrogant, political, manipulative, dishonest, and has a huge massive ego with a Napolean/Ike/McAuther/Patton complex. He gets really angry when people don't refer to the kosovo conflict as a war, and he doesn't get the war hero treatment. Secretary Cohen went as far as saying that he thought General Clark was brilliant at drawing up strategy and battle plans, but it to high maintance, and impossible to work with. I'm not sure which general it was, but one of them gave him the nickname "perfumed prince of darkness". Ironically, before this whole draft clark thing happened, there were several left wing web pages calling for Clark to be put on trial for war crimes, and noting that its believed he intentionally bombed the chinese embassy to try and start WW 3. He did order the bombing of russian ships, but the brits refused, after that, he was relived of his command (i.e. fired).

Napolean/Ike/McAuther/Patton complexWithout any of the martial skills exhibited by those three. BTW, he didn't order bombing of Russian ships--he ordered the British to take Pristina Airport, shooting their way in if necessary.

Clark: I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me.
Friends: He's just a poor boy from a poor family --spare him his life from this monstrosity!
Clark: Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
Dems: Bismillah! No, we will not let you go.
Friends: Let him go!
Dems: Bismillah! We will not let you go.
Friends: Let him go!
Dems: Bismillah! We will not let you go.
Clark: Let me go.
Dems: Will not let you go.
Clark: Let me go.
Dems: Will not let you go.
Clark: Let me go.
Dems: Ah. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Clark: Oh mama mia, mama mia! Mama mia, let me go.

I do know he ordered the seizing of the airport, but I remember on BBC, the british marshall saying that Clark was trying to order for the russian ships to be bombed.Esquire danced around it, The Wall Street Journal might have also given that same story as I read it.
The complex I was referring to, I should have cited where I got that line from, but basically the feeling is, is that he's a glory hound, who wants to be worshipped as this huge war hero who won the big ones, beloved, respected, and have his name in the same category as those mentioned.
I like how he went from saying he voted for Bush to now claiming he voted for Gore. He's pretty slick the way he got out of answering to elaborate on the praise he heaped on the Bush administration at that GOP fundraiser.

Clark was recruited by the Clinton's, to keep Algore out.
They, and everyone, know he is going to flop.
Their worst fear is for Algore to run, and maybe win (not likely). It would potentially keep shrillary out until she is 65.
