From a Washington Post article:
Washington PostThen Forbes announced this month that Herman Cain, a conservative black businessman from Nebraska, would serve as a campaign co-chairman. On Wednesday in New York, Kotto a Democrat who said he voted for Bill Clinton in the last two elections introduced Forbes to a crowd of 1,200 people.
If Republicans seriously consider Herman Cain and can compete with Isakson in the polls, I think the Democrats will choose a white candidate like Lewis Massey or Michael Coles.

I wonder when he moved from NE, I wouldn't want a carpetbagger charge being made against Mr. Cain. It's too bad we don't have a crystal ball to find out precisely who the 'Rats will nominate and then nominate accordingly. Our side continues to grow now if Collins gets in. All this "punditing" is starting to give me a headache. :-P

I think that's enough Georgian to qualify. Certainly helps when you've grown up somewhere.
Also from the website, he's definitely an economic conservative
Chairman and President of the Tax Leadership Council, the public educational component of Americans For Fair Taxation.
Member of The National Commission on Economic Growth and Tax Reform (1995), chaired by former Republican Vice-presidential candidate, Jack Kemp.
Well, that's almost his whole bio -- I suppose I could have just posted a link

Peach pizza .... Herman Cain, founder of the Godfather's Pizza chain, is exploring a run for the seat of retiring U.S. Sen. Zell Miller, D-Ga. Now based in Atlanta, Cain is quietly being talked up in conservative circles inside Washington and throughout Georgia. The appeal of a self-funding African-American candidate may be too much for the state GOP to resist. link

"Does anyone know more about Mr. Cain's philosophy ? From the little I've heard of his voice, he sounds like a very powerful speaker. If he is a solid Conservative and Jack Kingston refuses to enter the Senate race, Mr. Cain could be a great candidate (and self-financing to boot, always a plus !). If Thurbert Baker gets the 'Rat nod, Cain might be exactly who we're looking for. Your comments are appreciated. :-)"
Although Mr. Cain sounds like a very interesting candidate, we should hold off on supporting him. I want to find out wether Collins or Kingston jumps. If one of them decides they want the title "Senator" in front of their name, they get my support. If not, then I will take a very serious look at Cain. If one of the two aformentioned house members decides to jump, Mr. Cain should run for one of their open seats. The race for Isakson's open seat is probably to crowded (and has to many experienced politicians) for him to be able to win in.

I have to be honest and say that I don't think Mr. Cain has the credentials for a House race. Being a CEO as such means he is better suited to going for Governor or Senator. I would also presume he's probably in John Lewis's district, arguably now the worst member of Congress in the state, and even with all his money, he probably couldn't crack above 40% there.

I can think of a few successful businessman who have been elected to congress. Actually, the house would probably be a better place for him, considering the fact that the senate is so darn slow in passing legislation. I suspect Mr. Cain is a man of action, and the house is better suited for people who want to get stuff done than the country club, laid back atmosphere of the senate.
I'm not so sure being governor would be so great, either. As Governor, your forced to compromise and cannot give orders and expect them to be carried out like in a business. But then again, a Governor is also supposed to lead, something businessmen do every day.
