Which was a long time ago!
I think Christmas of 2003 or sometime around then.

I survived the 1989 quake, too. Still at work in Mountain View, just 1/2 west of Moffett Field. In the basement, in a building dedicated in 1963. False ceiling 2 inches of unreinforced cement.
Fortunately, the building was designed to survive an air-burst over Moffett Field NAS, so massively overbuilt.

Bummer California needs a 20.5 quake to end the insanity.

There should be a good sized aftershock or two coming, I think.
How are things where you’re at?

I was browsing updates this morning and was t disappointed.
I’ve been involved in emergency management at arm’s length for quite a few years and am familiar with the atypical gaslighting the authorities project about the “big one” (Cascadia).
So, it is absent surprise on my part that despite ample reporting on inland and coastal damage, there’s nary a report of the actual strength of the quake at the damage sites.
Think hard about that one: It’s all too familiar to me.
