.
This year with all of the candidates hanging in so long, the “second ballot” is pretty much a given.
.
Very good posting, altura!
The fine print in Washington State is pretty large.
Step 1: Make sure you are a registered Republican. (I think you have to be one 30 days prior to the neighborhood precinct caucus.
Step 2: Attend your precinct caucus and vote. Mine was 1.5 miles from the house. We were the only ones from our precinct (neighborhood) so we elected myself and my daughter to go to the district caucus. A $15 donation was requested to help pay the cost of the American Legion Hall.
Step 3: Attend your district caucus and either present yourself as a delegate to state or just to vote on delegates (or both). My daughter and I put our names on-line and were on the “slate”. About 15 people came forward during the meeting and put their names on the slate. Some speeches, voting, tabulating the ballots, etc. We were there for about 3 hours. Another $15 cost - I think it was required, not a request.
Step 4: If you are elected to state, pay $120 for the basic entrance. We are also attending some learning seminars at $50 a pop. Fancy lunches, meeting with the possible nominees, etc. all cost extra. Travel is 300 miles plus hotel. If I wanted to I could probably do a go-fund-me; and perhaps people would at least donate for my daughter.
This was the first time for us. Easy-peesy.
There are none so blind...
That link in 104 discusses that to a degree. It is about the 2012 election, which had Romney out in front by February, but still, a long road of attrition prior to that - which weakens the final nominee in the end. My summary verbiage: they end up bruised, bloodied and broke even before the Main Event.
Trump couldn’t pass a middle-school civics test.
*********************************
Apparently, based on his recent rants about delegates and false accusations of cheating and stealing.
I had Civics in the 8th grade. Although it was confusing at the time, I did learn about party delegates electing the nominees and the Electoral College electing the President.

Nobody liked the guy that by the rules?
You mean like how Trumpers hate Cruz for knowing the rules and using them as they were intended to be used?
Gotcha!
Interesting posting that reveals a bit of how Cruz’ ground game is working. Thanks.
Would you like me to post your argument?
I think that eminent domain on the little old lady is not entirely accurate in that particular case. However, Trump did support the new efforts in using ED to include building private facilities like hotels that would “upgrade” an area, as opposed to primarily roads and other needed services.
Trump will need to rely heavily on ED to build a wall the entire length of the border. Already there are issues with taking private ranch land, walling off the border - and the Rio Grande River that the ranchers depend on. The Fed has already bought areas for future development. Pay for a 200-foot swath along the river, but cut off thousands of acres from the water.
One of the reasons that I like Cruz’s idea of Border Security. A “wall” (or fence) where it will work, and increased personnel and remote monitoring where a wall is impractical.
After Teds schlonging tomorrow and the next NE primaries, Trump walks through WA and ORE and has the delegates. ********************************
That’s assuming that the people in the rest of the country are influenced by what the NE Democrat States do.
Who knows why Trump campaign not saavy on rules. Maybe turncoats in ranks? Think I smell that locally.
That is not the issue. The issue is the fairness of the rule makers and the rules.
It seems the rules are made up like Repulican insider who act like kids who change marble rules in middle of game or behind the scenes so everyone cannot know them.
America deserves better than this behavior.
And it does not deserve defending or throwing out nannie nannies at the candidate who misses the shenanigans.
Worse than that is his recent comment about using the Supreme Court to investigate Hillary Clinton. And back when Mitch McConnell was facing a TEA Party challenge during a re-election primary, Trump tweeted support for McConnell because he would be the next Speaker of the Senate.
Trump never said he wanted to use the Supreme Court to investigate Hillery. The transcript is a lie.
>Clinton invoked Trumps proposal to ban Muslims from entering the U.S. and asked Wisconsin voters what kind of justice a President Trump would nominate.
>Well, Id probably appoint people that would look very seriously at her email disaster because its a criminal activity, and I would appoint people that would look very seriously at that to start off with, Trump said in a phone interview with ABC's Good Morning America. What shes getting away with is absolutely murder. You talk about a case now thats a real case.
I've watched the video of the and what Trump was actually talking about was the type of Justice department people he would hire. The Supreme court stuff was placed next to it to make Trump spear to not know the function of the Supreme court. This is a very common tactic used against conservatives.
This lie has been repeated over and over again by the media, pro Cruz sites, ect. and is exactly the kind of thing Trump wants to put a stop to by tightening up libel laws. Do us all a favor and stop slandering Trump with it.
My understanding is that Mr. Trump hasnt exactly spent the funds involved. Rather, he has lent money to his campaign which is a separate legal entity from the candidate himself. Then the campaign has paid for the various expenses.
***********************************
Yep. His plane is leased to his campaign and when he holds events at his hotels or resorts, like Marlago (sp?) in FL, those campaign expenses are paid to Trump’s corporation.
Thus, he’s taking money from his right pocket and putting it into his left pocket, while saving a billion due to free advertising on radio and TV.
The transcript is what it is. It doesn't say Supreme Court.
Here is the lead-up question:
Muir: I do want to get your reaction, Mr. Trump, to something Hillary Clinton said just this week. She said, quote, "Ask yourself, what kind of justice would President Trump appoint? Or for that matter, attorney general?" citing your belief that Muslims should be banned from entering this country because of their faith. She said, "As scary as it might seem, you have to ask yourself" who would he appoint. How do you react?
I see what Trump was trying to do. However, he does a poor job of turning the question around. It is a mistake that he has made repeatedly.
I do appreciate your correction though. It is not my desire to repeat misinformation. I will give Trump a pass on this one. But his careless tongue is going to get him into serious trouble later once the Democrats are secure that Trump wins the GOP nomination.
Isn’t that the common refrain of the left? That people who work hard and make more money are just cheaters who stole from the poor.
>> This was the first time for us. Easy-peesy.
Yeah, but think of all the teevee you could have watched with the time it took to participate in our precious free election system. :-)
(And therein lies the American problem, IMHO.)
Thanks for making the wise choice.
>> when he holds events at his hotels or resorts, like Marlago (sp?) in FL, those campaign expenses are paid to Trumps corporation <<
So the Campaign pays the hotels and resorts for the said expenses, using funds borrowed from Mr. Trump’s personal accounts. And no doubt, the hotels will be charging something like super-profitable “rack” rates, rather than the discounted rates normally given to business conferences, conventions, senior citizens, AAA members, etc.
Then, once enough suckers have contributed to the Campaign, the Campaign will reimburse Mr. Trump’s personal accounts for his loans, while the profits earned by the hotels and resorts from rentals to the Campaign will be retained by Mr. Trump’s various corporations.
All in all, the operation seems to be a brilliant way to use a Presidential campaign for turning a very nifty profit. Wow! What a business genius this man is! Art of the deal to the Nth power!
“Step 2: Attend your precinct caucus and vote. Mine was 1.5 miles from the house. We were the only ones from our precinct (neighborhood) so we elected myself and my daughter to go to the district caucus.”
What is particularly interesting is how you don’t see a problem with that situation.
