And I remember how convinced the establishment was in July, 2015 that Jebbie WOULD be the nominee...
Now, insurgents command over 80% of the delegates. I'd wager that virtually 100% of Cruz' delegates are loyal to him. I'd hope that at least 50% of Trump's delegates are loyal to him. Between them, that's enough to control the convention and negotiate a changing o the guard...if nobody does something stupid.
And I wouldn't expect Cruz to do something stupid...
As a sign of their weakness, the GOP-e HAD to ally with Cruz in order to hold Trump to less than a majority on the first ballot. Cruz, sharing the same objective, accepted their support.
But Cruz is under no illusions. He knows they'll dump him at the first opportunity. Be assured he'll dump them at the first opportunity.
After that, understand that insurgents will control over 80% of the delegates -- meaning 80% of the rules Committee.
Now, ask yourself, who's got the power at this convention?
Even if Cruz were the nominee, he will lose the General election and the GOPe will regain control of the apparatus and complain the GOP lost the election because it was too radical and needs to return to a moderate tone.
Cruz supporters are delusional to think that Cruz can get elected.
True! He is now campaigning as the anti-Trump candidate, not a conservative one.
