Is it easy to tell the difference?
“Trouble is since he flipped to Trump’s position just recently, he may flop back the other way just as easily...”
Being a Trump fan, I don’t like to beat up on Cruz (and true Cruz supporters don’t beat up on Trump, only supporters of other candidates [i.e., Bush, Christie, Rubio] beat up on Trump).
But I agree...late conversions are simply harder to trust.
Me too. But I'll try.
"The Republican Party presidential primaries and caucuses are indirect elections in which voters cast ballots for a slate of delegates to the 2016 Republican National Convention. These delegates in turn directly elect the Republican Party's presidential nominee."
Since I am not, nor ever have been a 'delegate', I don't get to vote on who represents the Republican Party for President.
Have you ever been a delegate ?
In before the inevitable ‘Cruz thought of sending the Syrians home first’ crowd.
That's encouraging.
Trump doesn't substantiate what he's saying, and is known not to do so, he simply speaks whatever the moment might call for from whatever news or social media is feeding him....this coupled with what he knows from his business dealings.....he's been wrong many times, called on it, then resorts to his ever flowing word salads which he bends over top of each other in order to avoid answering what he well knows he cannot.
I noticed that at first, but he isn't a practiced politician, used to lying and pandering like many of them. Listening to his early speeches, he seems to be thinking faster than he can talk, so he sometimes doesn't finish what he is saying before going on to something related. Yet something in what he says and how he says it appeals to a large segment of the population.
.......they and the Demorats haven't even begun to show what they'll have and use to destroy Trump.....
I would agree with that. But I think they will try to do the same to Cruz.
Thank you for your responses.
P.S. IMHO there are three stages to this concern over the election.
1. Who can win the primary
2. Who can beat the Dem opposition candidate in the general
3. Who can best lead our nation out of the darkness.
I am not sure there is just one candidate who can do all three.
Frankly those concerns are mute because it’s all about the voting, which hasn’t started, and people vote based on many varied reasons which generally have little to do with the concerns you listed.
Gee.. that's a shame.
Kudos to you participating in them. Did you get to vote for the nominee ?
That is why I said 'we' don't get to vote for the nominee.
I noticed you dealing with anti-Trump posters on another thread. I find it a bit hypocritical that THEY make personal attacks, and do nothing but attack TRUMP (instead of just supporting their candidate).
The hypocritical part is that they use personal attacks to attack Trump and Trump supporters BECAUSE they say they don't like TRUMP making personal attacks on CRUZ.
“Did you get to vote for the nominee ?”
I should have stated it as “Did you get to vote for the candidate you wanted to be the nominee?”
I am sure there are ways to do that, but I would admit it is probably not 'easy'.
In reality, here in Colorado, you vote for a delegate that supports your candidate. Then we have a regular voting day at the polls for the party nominee. The delegate is obligated to vote for whoever won the vote. But if there is a brokered convention, then the delegate is free to vote for whoever. In reality, if it ever came to that, I think the party bigwigs would put unbearable pressure on the delegate to support the party’s choice. At least that is my understanding of how things work.
I should also point out, that I am no longer a registered republican. After 37 years, I changed my affiliation to unaffiliated back in December 2014 after mccconnel and boehner were re-elected and Sen elect corry gardner voted for obumbers budget and boehner in the house, before moving to the senate. Evan after campaigning on a platform to stop obumber, illegal immigration and out of control spending.
One other point. In Colorado you can still vote in the primaries even if you are not a party member. But you can only vote in the repub or demo primary not both.
Thanks for the info.
In suumary, would you agree with this ?
Very few of the eligible voters in the Nation are involved in the primary election process, and an even smaller segment of that are the ones who actually get to VOTE.
