as I contemplate this....I think this might work perfectly.
I believe that Trump is going to have YUGE support among pro-American folks who are ambivalent to social conservatism. And I think perhaps the most deeply committed soc cons are somewhat uncomfortable with Trump, for obvious reasons.
On the other hand, I think that there are many of those pro-American Trump supporters who are not comfortable with Cruz’s resume in a world of crisis, and they see Trump’s commanding presence and experience as a YUGE part of his appeal. And since they are ambivalent to social conservatism, they are not as interested in the entire Cruz campaign.
But bringing the two together, magnifies the strengths and covers the weaknesses of these two outstanding candidates.
And best of all, it gives us a party which is entirely united and which is hated by the GOPe. So it will be US, Trump/Cruz, against the GOPe and the Democrats.
If we win THAT....then, we will save America, destroy the GOPe, and hurt the Democrats all in one mighty swoop.
I can hardly wait!!!!!
I am for Cruz but not Trump. Cruz is a true social and constitutional conservative. Trump is not.
Donald Trump wants Ted Cruz at a strong # 2 .... it forces (blackmails) the GOPe to stop attacking Trump, since the GOPe is absolutely terrified of Ted Cruz ... just think Obama impeachment and Joe Biden ....
2016 Caucus Nov. 13th 2015
As a freshman Senator with no signature legislation to boast about on the campaign trail, Texas Senator Ted Cruz instead makes his case to voters by telling them whatâs important is to see where the candidates âstood up and fight.â
Fighting is the one thing on which Cruz has actually has accumulated quite a record. Whether itâs fighting Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell or fighting to shut down the government to repeal Obamacare, if Cruz is anything, he is a fighter.
Now, one of Cruzâs colleagues in the U.S. Senate who also happens to be seeking the Republican nomination for president, Marco Rubio, is highlighting another area where Cruz has stood up and fought â for immigration reform that some conservative might describe as amnesty.
When asked about a recent critique that Cruz made of the âGang of Eightâ bill that Rubio had once backed, the Florida Senator responded, âTed is a supporter of legalizing people that are in this country illegally. In fact, when the Senate bill was proposed, he proposed legalizing people that were here illegally. He proposed giving them work permits. Heâs also supported massive expansion of green cards,â he said, following an event in South Carolina on Thursday afternoon.
The following is footage of Cruz in the U.S. Senate advocating for legal status for the 11 million immigrants who are in the country illegally, doubling the amount of legal immigration into the county, and expanding temporary work visas by 500%. While Cruz is clear in the meeting that he doesnât support granting citizenship to those in the country legally, many conservatives who oppose immigration reform would call what Cruz is proposing a form of amnesty.
The argument that Rubio is making against Cruz is nothing new. In fact, itâs an issue Rick Santorum has been trying to raise for weeks. On Thursday, the Santorum campaign issued a hard-hitting press release taking Cruz to task on the immigration issue. âRepublican presidential candidate Ted Cruz has positioned himself as the âcourageous conservativeâ in the 2016 race who is ready to take on the Washington cartel.â The only problem with according to Santorum is that, âCruz is part of the âWashington Cartelâ that wants to hurt American workers by providing amnesty to illegal immigrants.â
Bringing up Cruzâs history on immigration reform was a brilliant move by Rubio. The Rubio campaign knows that the conservative candidates in the field are going to try to tar and feather him on this issue, so instead of fighting it, he essentially just said, hey, Ted Cruz has the same position on immigration that I do. And Rubio is correct.
This issue will cause Cruz some heartburn in Iowa. The timing also couldnât be any worse. Now is the time Cruz is putting the full court press on conservative leaders from Iowa like Bob Vander Plaats and Steve King to endorse his candidacy. King is a hardliner on immigration, and he would surely have issues with what Cruz was advocating a couple years ago. In a Tweet on Thursday night, King described amnesty as, âAny reduced penalty not provided by current law is amnesty whether itâs a million dollar fine or a dollar.â
Cruz is also facing competition from Donald Trump who has adopted a hardline position on the issue.
If you think DJT would ever settle for VP, you have another think coming. LTC (Ret.) Allen West would seal the deal and easily 90%+ of the black vote would vote that ticket just because West is black.
Understood. Lots of people here share that precise opinion. And they have good reasons. Lots of people here also support Trump and to a lesser extent Cruz. They have good reasons, also.
While I like Cruz and would vote for him. The truth is Cruz can’t win cross-over votes, and would be labeled a Right-Wing/Tea Party extremist over-n-over-n-over and middle America will either stay home or vote for Hillary.
Cruz, also, will not fight back against all the BS that will be thrown at him (dems & Repubs) because he’s beholden to donors who would stop financial support if Cruz doesn’t do what they say. We are now witnessing the kind of vitriol being directed at Trump that Cruz would face, only worse, but Trump fight’s back like none of the rest can
Fine, keep your fantasy. But if there wasn’t truth in what I said you wouldn’t feel the need to call “troll” just because I challenge your fantasy world. Not hurting anyone but yourself.
Moderates (like you) are lying manipulative bottom feeding scum.
You people are cowards.
Calling people names won’t make the truth any less TRUE, like I said, keep your fantasy
Well, that kinda goes w/o saying. [This is a President Cruz thread].
I'd wager the next 2 words were, "They're Great".
.
That’s like bolstering the Rock of Gibraltar with elmer’s glue! :o)
.
You are one confused dude!
Trump has followed Cruz’ positions for his own on 90% of the issues.
.
There is no opening in Cruz’ armor from which to mount an attack.
(And Trump has more sense than to attempt debate with the master)
.
.
Isn’t going to happen.
Trump won’t accept the #2 slot, and he is not qualified for the #1 slot.
.

.
That is an imaginary group that could only be made out of fairy dust. Social conservatism IS America.
