I think it’s a sad commentary. I get it. She’s perfectly good for the job, I’m sure, and I’m thankful to see WV come out of the 80 year darkness, but uh...looking back at when I was 18, I know I had a lot of learning to do. Even @ 40, I’m still learning. An 18 year old should be worried about school and such. I wish her the best, I really do. And who knows, perhaps she’ll make better decisions than the rest of the “adults”
People who read some history stuff can take an 18yo seriously, especially an 18yo like this one, in a period of history like this one.
and my apologies to DonaldC; I may have come off as aggressive. I've been on my own since I was 15, everything to me was deadly serious.
Did you serve in the military? Others posting in support of this woman are making a valid point. There are and were men and women in the military at the age of 18 entrusted with materials and things that meant life or death to their fellow service members, their unit, division, and even to the American public. The vast majority of the American public have no idea, no conception, of what the average military Joe or Jane does during their time in the service. I think it is great she won.
Give the kid a chance. She may be a pleasant surprise.
Yes, it is ridiculous that an 18-year-old can sign legal contracts, fight and die in our our wars, run for political office, get married, and yet they are not allowed to drink alcohol.
Other than that, I see nothing wrong with an 18-year-old adult being elected for office if that’s what her constituents feel is best. God knows there are plenty of 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 somethings in politics who are inept at their jobs.
Good luck to Ms. Blair.
Good point. How many young state representatives have a relationship with a senator, a pretty good mentor?
What's not to like?
I’m a Boomer and still have plenty of contemporaries who will go to their graves never being as smart as this young lady.
i used to be a trooper there...did gov details every now and again...you wouldn’t be surprised about some of the nonsense that travels the halls of the capital...good ole’ boy system - very political - and corrupt...Remember Senator Robert “Sheets” Bird...the one Clinton gave excuses for at his funeral...”he had to join the KKK - that’s just what people did back then...”
I hope she’s successful!
BWAHAHAHAHAHA! How cool is that -— celebrating victory at Buffalo Wild Wings. The loser RAT was probably at a Hilton.
