Miller:
"Can I tell you how jazzed I am about this cat?"Cat?...CAT?
That can't be considered anything but racist.
Is any other Presidential candidate called "cat"?
Miller may earn his living by saying things other people would not say, but this is not respectful.

the aforesaid Mr Miller refers to lots of people as ‘cats’.
I think its a Hollywoodism, like ‘my people getting with your people’, etc.

“Cain vs. unAble”.....brilliant!! Dennis Miller....you gotta love that cat!

Listening to the radio, there is a ground swell taking place for Mr. Cain. I read Mr. Cain as McCain, and shuddered.

That can't be considered anything but racist. Miller uses the term "cat" a dozen times a day on his show. It is part of his stock lingo and carries no racial baggage.

Hope and Cain 2012Brilliant! That's, like, a million slogans so far for the Hermanator.
To: GeronL
Cain seems like a good man, but his 999 tax plan is an abomination.
Newt pointed out the obvious today, that it would be pure catnip for congress to tax more deeply into more areas of our lives than ever before.
There’s something to be said for having elective experience before running for president.
To: Mamzelle
You could have described Reagan as a "sweet guy" too. He handled the yahoos of the Left with effortless aplomb. That's why they grudgingly called him "the teflon president"-- they said nothing stuck to him. The real reason is he refused to react as if anything stuck to him.

Theres something to be said for having elective experience before running for presidentLike AlGore, Kerry, GWBush, Edwards, Obama, McCain. Throw in Dukakis and Mondale too.
Yes there probably is something trenchant to be said about all these political slicks. It isn't pretty though.

Necessary does not mean sufficient.
To: 9YearLurker
Interesting distinction.
In science an observed and measured phenomena is often assessed to see if it is both necessary and sufficient to explain a particular fact. Two distinct and particular qualities.

Sarah Palins my first choice; Herman Cain is second. ditto. We're so blessed that we have such a great 2nd choice.

You need to watch some of his speeches and interviews and see how fired up he can get. He has taken Obama to the woodshed many times.

It was fortunate that Cain got a chance to speak at the last debate.

I was on board with Cain, prior to the 999 plan, when he was simply advocating throwing out the current tax system in favor of the Fair Tax. The 999 plan has me concerned also. However, in the grand scheme of Cain’s plan, 999 is a two year transition to the Fair Tax. Also, I think it’s gonna be harder, than most folks think, for congress to raise taxes when they apply to each and every citizen at the same level. Could end the class warfare game and strike a serious blow to the Liberal political playbook.

Actually, within jazz, it is quite a compliment to refer to a musician as a "cat."
Since so much of jazz is improvised, it's a way of saying the artist has his own groove and can deliver. He may start with sheet music, however, at one point he does his own thing that people dig.
Alternate voicing? Cain doesn't need a teleprompter.
To: QuestingElf
Miller is old school. He speaks of a “cool cat” which covers a wide range of professions, but speaks of a talented, level headed guy.
