If it’s really true that Palin did not know why there are two Koreas, as apparently alleged by some McCain advisors, then she is not qualified.

How can anyone so close minded be pretentious enough to call themselves "wideminded"? The only thing wide minded about you is the hurricane blowing through your ears. PDS will do that.

Try again:

WHEREAS, the state of Alaska honors the commitment of the Republic of Korea to the citizens of Alaska to continue strong international relations with the re-establishment of the Korea Consular Office in Anchorage.

WHEREAS, the Republic of Korea has been an important trading partner with the state of Alaska for almost four decades, accounting for over $700 million of the state’s exports in 2007.

WHEREAS, Korean air carriers, Korean Air and Asiana Airlines, provide vital air cargo links between Alaska and Korea and between Asia and North America.

WHEREAS, Alaska celebrates the contributions of over 7,000 Korean citizens and Korean-American citizens who add to our state’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.

WHEREAS, the state of Alaska thanks the Republic of Korea for the excellent public service provided to Alaska by Consul Hee-chul Kim, Consul General Ha-ryong Lee, and Alaska Honorary Consul William Bittner.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sarah Palin, Governor of the state of Alaska, do hereby proclaim June 20, 2008, as:

Korea-Alaska Friendship Day

in Alaska, and encourage Alaska and Korea citizens to celebrate the strong ties of friendship, culture, trade, and education between the state of Alaska and the Republic of Korea.

Dated: June 20, 2008

Note the date, 'wideminded'.

Korea-Alaska Friendship Day

The qualification thing has always baffled me. First, there is no form to fill out, no checklist, no Constitutional guidelines, so “qualification” is by definition in the eye of the beholder. The greatest Presidents seem to have thrived because of their character, and that isn’t even on the radar anymore.

The article is worth reading to the end.. Paraphrasing: If America has a choice in 2012, and Obama is one of them, he better start packing... Did I get that right?

I did not say that Palin did not know that Korea existed or that North and South Korea are separate countries. I said that it was alleged by people who should know that at one point Palin did not know how they came to be separate countries. Nothing in the proclamation you posted contradicts this. It doesn't even mention North Korea or that the Republic of Korea is the same as South Korea.

I also didn't say that that the allegation I mentioned was a 100% established fact, although I wouldn't have posted it if I didn't think there was some pretty good evidence. I'm totally open to being proven wrong, but the proclamation actually made me feel more like it might be true.

I've always known that my screen name sounded kind of snobby. But I have never changed it because:

1. I'm not that good at picking screen names.
2. It gives me some incentive to save a lot of time and just quit posting.
3. It is accurate that I tend to look at things from more sides than a lot of other people.
4. There are some reasons that I chose that name other than the contrast with "narrow-minded".

The same people believe the North Korea story as believe that Sarah said she could see Russia from her house.

The Saul Alinsky tactics are working because even our side believes the lies the other side make up about our candidates.
