“What is clear is that if O’Donnell does prevail, it will represent the Tea Party’s most destructive (to the GOP) triumph yet.”
The idiots at Salon are already congratulating themselves, thinking that now Coons will win easily, but conservatives should be exultant over an O’Donnell win(If, God willing, it comes to pass) both because we will be rid of Mike Castle once and for all and becasue Ayotte can win the general election, because 2010 will be a gigantic “wave” election and there is no incumbent, as I state in this post:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2586363/posts
In the biggest Democrat year since 1964, O’Donnell won 36% of the vote against Joe Biden, a five term Senator and also on the ballot as the favorite son candidate for Vice President. That is a remarkable showing UNDER the WORST OF CIRCUMSTANCES.
The 2010 electorate will be entirely different. Turnout will skew heavily toward the energized conservatives. There is no incumbent on the ballot and certainly no “Delaware favorite son” Vice Presidential candidate. It is not a Presidential year so the turnout model will even more heavily favor the out party (the GOP).
Finally, Coons was supposed to be a sacrificial lamb to Castle. This seat was being held for Beau Biden to take in 2014 (or before if Castle went through with the rumored deal to resgn earlier). Coons has not been vetted. He has lots of baggage including some Marxist writings he authored which will not go over well in corporation friendly Delaware.
And Christine O’Donnell is a very good candidate. Even after Castle slimed her with irrelevancies, she was only 10 points behind Coons, about where Fiorina was vis a vis Boxer before the GOP Primary in California.
Delaware is very winnable with Christine as the nominee.
“Ayotte can win” = “O’Donnell can win”
That’s a handy anti-RINO talking point list. thanks
The GOP establishment will undoubtedly spend the next two days knocking itself up....
I figure, either he meant that they will spend the next two days beating itself up, or... they can go f*** themselves.
:)
To my way of thinking if the left comes out against a Republican candidate it means they are scared of that candidate. They are scared of O’Donnell and Ayote. That alone gives me reason to look more closely at backing them.
