They seem to be good ideas to me, too. Maybe you're on to something...

Wednesday...

From the RTD.

iBook sale creates chaos
by Olympia Meola and Alexa Williams
Chaos erupted yesterday morning at Richmond International Raceway as people stampeded through the gates in a rush to buy used iBook laptops for $50 each.

Kaine sticks by ad firm after gaffe
The firm yanked a TV spot that erred when it attacked Bush's Supreme Court pick
by Tyler Whitley
The campaign of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Timothy M. Kaine continues to have confidence in its media consulting firm despite the firm's role in producing a controversial NARAL ad that was pulled last week, a spokeswoman said.

Let's be clear. This was no "gaffe." They were caught in a lie.

"Tim feels strongly" about accuracy, she said.

That's the trouble with going to the beach - eventually, your brain turns to driftwood, and you forget everything except where to get good crab legs and how to make a margarita. We were down in Rodanthe the first week of August, so I speak from experience here ;)

In a brief interview last night, Allen said he came to the event "because I keep my commitments, and I made a commitment to Brad Marrs, who I think the world of. . . . There's nothing wrong with trying to glean stances from opponents during campaigns, but I think that that approach to it was inappropriate. Nonetheless, I'm still friends with Brad Marrs, and I want him to get re-elected."

I do not understand why he thinks it was inappropriate. If a wealthy sodomite is aligning himself with the Dem opponent I think the voters have every right to know who exactly is supporting who.

I agree. Without actually talking to him, I think perhaps he's just sticking with his first reaction.

What's the saying? "If you don't think you have any friends, just buy a place at the beach". ;)

Yeah, we actually found that out when we first moved to the DC area. Company all the time.

Right now we mostly rent my brother's place in Nags Head. But we're projecting we can actually buy when our oldest is out of college (our other son is 11 years behind him). Sooner if he gets the football scholarship.

Well, either we have no friends or none like the water..........our 3rd summer here, only 10 miles from either the ocean or the Chesapeake and NO ONE has come to visit us :)

You've found the perfect distance - close enough to be convenient for you, but far enough away to discourage everyone else from asking to borrow it. Corin, on the other hand - my bestest buddy and closest personal friend, for at least five minutes now - will be right near the beach in Rodanthe. Since we're so close, I'm sure he won't mind if I borrow his place for a week or two here or there ;)

We're sorry, this number has been disconnected or is not in working order.

So after the horrific scenes at RIR yesterday (women, children, and minorities hardest-hit...literally), will Tim Kaine add a plank to his platform to give every Virginia student a free iBook, so there won't have to be low-income Section-8-housing-resident stampedes to get them for $50?

I move back up here for seven months and then THIS happens. Sheesh.

And is it just me, or is Doug "I'm Smarter Than You And I'm Not Afraid To Tell You" Wilder sounding more and more conservative the older he gets? Yeah, he's still a Rat, but y'know, for a black mayor of a heavily-black city, he sure doesn't fit the Kwame Kilpatrick race-pimp mode. He's sounding pretty tough. Maybe he's the boot in the ass that the City of Richmond needs in a lot of ways.

And, I do wonder what's going to become of this rapidly-expanding boondoggle of a "performing arts center." Let's see, you've got the Siegel Center, the Landmark Theatre (or the Mosque, whatever), the Coliseum, all the facilities at VCU and U of R...but people need to spend $80 million...no, $93 million...oops, no, $111 million now, on a new performing arts center?

I do not understand why he thinks it was inappropriate.

When I read Sen. Allen's comments it sounded as if he really didn't want to be there and was just fulfilling a commitment he had made previously.

Jerry Kilgore condemned the fund raising letter, also.

And I thought, "With friends like these...."

I don't know about this one. Deeds certainly has more claim to being pro 2nd Amendment than Warner (who created that image for himself).

McDonnell's website is a bit vague.

jla, P8riot ~ do you guys have any more insight on this one?
