Monday Morning Pingage!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Gabz.
Thanks Gabz! How's the ankle?
No problem!
Still encased in fiberglass!!!!
I've been on the phone with Doctors this morning, because the orthiopod needs an X-ray of it before he sees me aagain next week, and my primary care doc needs a written request from his office for it........what a mess. Thank goodness for insurance, but the hoops that have to be jumped through are unreal!
Hang in there! I've been there so I can totally sympathize.
I know :) and I really appreciate the sympathy.
You do good work. Just now got connected, but we're headin' back over to the beach.
Thanks for doing this.
Not a problem, FRiend.............have fun at the beach
I'll start with Kilgore's illegal immigration stance:
Kilgore supports curbs on illegal immigrants.... (RTD)
I don't know about anyone else, but I don't think Kaine's position is going to endear him to many folks.....
Delacey Skinner, a spokeswoman for Kaine, said how localities deal with illegal day laborers is their business.
Kaine believes that Kilgore's solution is misdirected because the centers are also used by workers who are legal and because small businesses are dependent on the labor, Skinner said.
Illegal immigration is a problem that the federal government needs to address, she said, calling Kilgore's proposed solution "political grandstanding."

Kilgore backs detention of illegal aliens - denounces funding for immigrant day laborer centers
Thread from this morning with WaPo story:

Adn the Pilot's take on it..........
Kilgore backs police detention of illegal aliens
Jeffy-boy is still on his jihad over the Marrs letter:
Speaker rejects Marrs inquiry
Howell says delegate did nothing wrong in use of stationery
Here are a couple I missed from the RTD on Sunday
(Nice piece on Kilgore's hands on style)
(Gotta be fair and balanced, don't you know)
More on the Marrs letter:
Capitalizing on bias, then and now
And regarding the Mason-Dixon poll showing Kaine in the lead:
Starting with the RTD:
Potts is whining again..........Larry Sabato is insisting Potts hit a 15% threshold in at least two polls to be allowed to participate.
More Potts whining:
Kilgore fostering division, Potts claims
What part of the word "illegal" do Potts and Kaine, not understand?
It's a Shapiro article - nuff said.
My dial-up is running like a snail this morning......I'll post anything else I find in a later post.
And finally, on a non-political note; For those whoo knew him, Jim Robinson posted this thread last night about VA FReeper, The Other Harry:
Kaine vows to offer pre-K to 4-year-olds if hes elected
(Have to admit I like the word "IF" in the title)
We spend very little money early, when kids brains are being formed, Kaine said after presenting his plan to about 200 supporters at a Henrico County school. The research demonstrates that this is the time when you can make a huge impact.
SNIP
He predicted that greater access to pre-kindergarten programs would help more children learn to read before the third grade and would help close the gap between white and minority students on standardized test scores.
Whatever happened to mommy and/or daddy teaching little junior to read? Why do people like Kaine insist WE need to spend more money on something that should be taken care of at home?
Yeah, yeah, yeah....I know, I sound like some elitist snob harping on educaton costs...I know all the arguments about underprivileged and ESL children.....and I do know and understand some children do need extra help, and I wouldn't dream of denying it to them, but come on..if he wants to do this, why only to "eligible" students, why not all?
Sorry for my rant, but this just irks me to no end. I know I'm not unusual, nor is my child some child prodigy, but she could read long before she hit kindergarten..and was kicked into 1st grade reading 2 weeks into the kindergarten year, and she wasn't the only one.
Please don't apologize ... your post is the best thing I have read this morning.
YIKES.......If that's 'the best you've read this morning, I'm not sure I would like to see what else you've been reading this morning >>>>>>>>>>> LOL!!!!!!!
LOL! Actually I have experienced a couple crashes this morning. Had to hook up another system. ;*)
I feel for you, my FRiend - I really do. been there too many times to not understand how hard it is to deal with.
I was in the middle of a frily lenghty post last night when the power went out.......needless to say, it was totally lost. The good thing, I went to sleep far earlier than I normally do :)
I HATE when that happens.
I went to sleep far earlier than I normally do :)
There is always a bright side to every dark side, heh? ;*)
Kaine is in the Washington Times today promoting early childhood education. I didn't see anything for Kilgore.
Kaine outlines preschool plan
By Christina Bellantoni
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
August 10, 2005
RICHMOND -- Gubernatorial candidate Timothy M. Kaine yesterday announced a campaign proposal that would give Virginia children universal access to pre-kindergarten.
At a town-hall meeting in Henrico County, Mr. Kaine, a Democrat, said children who attend such programs are better prepared for life.
"It's time we step up as a state," he told a room of about 250 supporters gathered at Dumbarton Elementary School. "It's time we recognize that we've got to invest dollars if we want our kids to succeed."
Mr. Kaine, the lieutenant governor, said as governor he would dramatically expand existing pre-kindergarten programs that are now used by about half of the state's 4-year-olds.
He estimated it would cost about $290 million annually to pay for the program, which he dubbed "Start Strong." He would like to see the program phased in gradually: The first year, the program would cost about $75 million, and the second year it would cost about $150 million and so on.
He said he would expand on the private and public programs already in place at schools and day care centers.
The program would not be mandatory.
