When did they pass a law turning USAID into an independent agency?
One of the things President Trump specially stated that they were dissolving it and independence agency and returning it to State Department control
The Alt Left, as usual, is simply manufacturing an alternative reality to fit their TDS.
If USAID can be killed, it would also kill a lot of graft and deprive the Deep State of one of their favored money-laundering operations. But that’s a big “if”. Both Democrats and RINOs will join in defending USAID.
LETS SEE WHERE ALL OUR TAXPAYER MONEY WENT.
LETS HAVE FULL DISCLOSURE.
SHINE A LIGHT ON THE DEMOCRAT SWAMP ILLEGAL PAYMENTS.
USAID does many evil things, but who knows how the courts will rule. I imagine that their lawyers are burning the midnight oil. As you posted, there was a law passed by congress, but as I understand it, that law makes the SOS (Rubio) the head of USAID. Can he abolish USAID? I believe that USAID has committed fraud as Trump said, but I would think he needs to prove it.
See #124
Yep all of this will be decided in Courts. That how it works when the other side has a diametrically opposed opinion to the party in power now days
Problem for the Alt Left is going to be where do you fight? Trump is flooding the zone they don’t have the ability to fight everything at the same time
IMHO, Congress didn't pass a law "creating" USAID, they passed a law that reorganized USAID after it was created by JFK. This author is claiming that the reorganization was a de facto creation within the law.
I think that is arguable before the courts. Congress never debated and voted on the "creation" of USAID in the first place. I might have been a much harder task to create it than to reorganize what was already created by Executive Order.

Thanks. #127 mentions possible leftist/deep state legal ideas.
The article deceptively leaves out that Kennedy established USAID via Executive Order.
This is what I questioned in an earlier post. Did Congress "establish" the agency or simply recognize its existence in legislation? Does this count as "creation" or simply acknowledgement that it was previously created?
This is debatable. According to 22 USC Ch. 74: FOREIGN AFFAIRS AGENCIES CONSOLIDATION §6592. Administrator of AID reporting to Secretary of State
But according to §6563. Status of AID:
(1) an establishment in the executive branch (other than the United States Postal Service or the Postal Regulatory Commission) which is not an Executive department, military department, Government corporation, or part thereof, or part of an independent establishment; and
(2) the Government Accountability Office.
USAID cannot be both independent AND under the direct authority of the Secretary of State's policy guidance.

Good points. The reason I linked cnn was to show what they say they are planning to do. It’s important for Trump’s lawyers to think about how they will make their cases.
USAID
That is a brilliant observation.
Hope you don't mind if I use it as a club to beat some sense into my leftist acquaintances.
Everyone instinctively knows that America was never the same after the JFK shooting, but no one has figured out until now that it wasn’t the shooting itself but the agency JFK setup that broke America.
Also the Kennedy Immigration Bill passed in 1965.
“It would be nice if it was the end of the Demoncrap Party.”
Evil never dies. It may be contained or corralled temporarily, but it’s always ‘still there’... waiting for another chance.
go for it
The firings and elimination of slush funds and kickback channels that we've already seen are going to slash literally billions of dollars that would have been used to keep Democrats in power. Without the money advantage, and with thousands or millions of voters no longer in a position of automatically pulling the lever for Democrats to keep getting paid off, the next election cycles may be blowouts against Dems.
And I haven't even explored the likelihood that upcoming audits on all these funding channels that are being shut down are likely to produce a tidal wave of explosive lawsuits against corrupt political leaders. Journalists heads are going to keep spinning as there will be so many explosive scandals coming to light that they won't know where to turn, whether they are playing offense or defense or just trying to report the news.
“Wrongo. USAID was created with an EO by President Kennedy. With the stroke of his Sharpie, Trump can revoke that EO & bye bye USAID.”
We’re seeing the deep state activate its sleeper cells on social media to cast doubt on the legality of Trump shutting down the grift pushed out by USAID.
Some of them are more dangerous than others. The soft speaking Hakeem Jeffries was one on the stars of the J6 Committee Show.
Powers was Obama's United Nations Ambassador. She was also the person responsible for the most "unmasking" of hundreds of Americans’ names in secret National Security Agency intercepts during the 2016 election.
This was Americans who were on one end of phone calls to people who were overseas. Obama used the overseas connection to spy on the Americans who were on the other end of those phone calls, and Powers was the person who unmasked the names of the Americans on those calls.

Yes indeed! I think it’s Power, not Powers, not related to Stephanie Powers. I thought that was a new record for unmasking, but who knows.
