I’m on auto update for Windows Vista Home Premium. Think that’s enough?
What browser are you using? If it’s happening with IE, try Firefox.
Probably....I just don't know how malicious the thing you got was, and if it might need further attention. I mentioned all these various things to help if you need to go fight it some more. Some of these things have more than one trick.
I had a huge problem with one on IE with a XP machine. I re-downloaded IE, I cleared out all the add on's and IE kept crashing. After about a year of it, (I had given up) I had a worm come though a e-mail and friggin Norton did not catch it. I dumped Norton and loaded Avast, isolated the worm and for some stupid reason I never had another problem with IE.
I can't be sure about the cause because windows loaded a major XP update with some IE updates at about the same time. But with all the problems I have had with Norton, I will never go back to it again, and I have been worm and problem free since, on my network and all my stuff.
I think it's evil or something, but I'm glad you got it, and you need to explore all the things you can do with this OS. Lot's of possibilities and it all came with it.
It's just different and different things are usually blamed for all sorts of issues when the reality is that other peoples applications are at fault almost every-time. They either refused to update their products for the VISTA OS, or they did a crap job, like JAVA did and had to re-do it while they let Microsoft take the blame.
Failing that, wipe the disk and re-install.
It's the Winders way.
True, but it doesn't really matter what OS you're running. If you get rooted, you should reinstall from known good media. A rooted system can never be trusted.
Yep.
