Anything is possible, but I've done some checking for you and concluded this is unlikely. There has long been a standard U.S. birth certificate form, and although it has undergone changes over the years, from what is shown in the govt report on it, there has never been a religion field.
A state could decided to add it, of course. I just dont think it's very likely in a state like HI.

I just found a website of a “photo” side-by-side comparison of Obama’s and a “Real” Hawaiian Birth Certificate.

BESIDES THE VISUAL PROOF, CONFIRMATION HAS BEEN RECEIVED FROM THE HAWAII STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH (HSDH) THAT:
1. Certified copies of birth certificates are NEVER sent electronically. Copies can be requested by qualified individuals in person, by mail, or on line; and the Vital Records (VR) office will MAIL the Certification of Live Birth within 4 to 6 weeks.
2. Certifications of Live Birth will ALWAYS include an embossed seal.
I just looked at the comparisons, HUGH difference!
Obama’s says “Date Filed By Registrar” and the other one says “Date Accepted By State Registrar”
I think the borders look different. I can see a line or overlap on the corners of Obama’s and not on the other.
Obama’s doesn’t have the embossed seal, the other one does.
Also the type on Obama’s look computer generated. They just don’t look the same.
Both say: “OHSM 1.1 (Rev. 11/01) LASER,” likely meaning that this form was revised in Nov. 2001 for use with laser printers, AND therefore that both of these certifications theoretically would have been produced by the VR office in Nov. 2001 or later. Therefore, it doesn’t mater if they were born years apart, Obama’s certificate was revised and should have an embossed seal.
Did anyone look at the image in it’s large state? I did. I noticed that stamped on the bottom, obviously on the back but bleeding through, was a date: “Jun 6 2007”....it is backwards, because it is on the back and bleeding through. But, check it out. Obama didn’t have a copy of his birth certificate until 2007? Seems odd. I have had one of mine for 23 years. What about giving proof of his birth to get his passport...we know he travelled during college.
This smells a bit fishy.

Who cares if his parents were married. I don’t. It isn’t his birth that troubles me, it is the fact that he wants to keep so many from ever being born.
It is his life as an adult that worries me the most; not his childhood. Poor kid. I feel so sorry for that kid. What a horrid life. His mother’s name is STANLEY...and his name is Barack...half white, half black, has an asian step father and lives in a muslim household; but goes to Catholic school, Dad has 3 other wives, loads of other kids, and leaves him...goes to live with grandparents, while his sister stays with mom.....no wonder he took drugs! Poor mixed up kid!
He doesn’t need to be President, he needs to be the parent to his girls that he never had. Being President is going to keep him away from his girls, just like his parents were away from him. He is selfishly pursuing his own personal gain, no matter how it disrupts his children’s lives...just like his parents.
Oh! None of this other stuff about “african” matters, it has NO SEAL! All copies like this have an embossed seal. I have had to get some for my kids, for their passports....

AFAIK Obama has not claimed to lack a copy of the original. His campaign simply refused to release it when such requests started coming in. Then it came up with the substitute “certification of birth”.
I believe he most likely has the original and does not want the public to see something that is on it.
I wish I knew the answer. I'm like you, I don't care either, but I imagine that if this is the issue with the original birth certificate, the Obama campaign believes that some people would care.
I can't say with confidence that no one would care. I would guess that some of the older voters would.
Hmm. It's been a long time since I've looked at my birth certificate. I was baptised at the hospital by a prominent national figure in the church who was passing through and looked at some sort of information for persons of my mother's denomination.
It is POSSIBLE that he went door to door around the ward asking the mothers their religion, but I think he looked over something else. He wasn't called there by my family, I know that.

I can remember being asked my religion on admission to the hospital and having it on my wristband. Once, when I went in for an unbelievably minor procedure (that these days is done totally on an outpatient basis), someone even came in the room and asked if I had been seen by the rabbi.
You’re right, they know an awful lot about us, but I am not sure it is from the birth cert.
Just like he could be prosecuted for the mock Presidential Seal, but won’t be, so will any proof of lack of citizenship be cast aside. The guy is teflon.
