Did you see Sadler's hands shaking? That's a little more oomph.
To: SouthTexas
Candyman, Rocket, JJ, Smoke, and Bobby Labonte are the top five.

Best quote of the day:
"I'm glad we're peaking at the right time of year"......today from Mark Martin.
To: AGreatPer
Martin is a good man. He's been so close to the title on occasions.

Roush vows fight on cap on cars
NASCAR wants a team limit to encourage new owners; he calls it unfair, contradictory
By Brant James
St. Pete Times,October 14
Jack Roush's career as a race car owner started with an engineering degree and a lot of ambition. He knows it would be difficult for the same type of person to make it as far as he has starting a Nextel Cup team today.
It took Roush 18 years to build his team from outsider to five-car monolith and two-time series champion. And even as NASCAR president Mike Helton reiterated CEO Brian France's proposed intention to break down the kind of monster team he has built, Roush vowed to fight.
Though Helton would not confirm it, the generally accepted cap on cars in the future would be three, meaning Roush and Hendrick Motorsports would be the only teams affected. Roush said he plans to convene with Hendrick, then his lawyers, if necessary to confront what he sees as an affront to the independent contractor system from which he and NASCAR have long benefited.

This definitely ain't Bill France's NASCAR, that's for sure.

I wonder if the fans could vote off Brain, just like on Survivor?
To: WestCoastGal
I wonder if the fans could vote off Brain, just like on Survivor? If I won the lottery Saturday, I could make a down payment on that.
Plates? What plates? Cookie-cutter cars? Get some imagination, Detroit and teams. Cookie-cutter tracks? Bah humbug.

Speaking of the ownership limits, my local fishwrap racing reporter, Dave Kallman (who does come recommended by Jayski),
rips the Brain plan to limit owners to 3 teams, pointing out that Brain controls half the racetracks, among other things.

Good article, I hadn't really thought about this part......
Jack Roush and Rick Hendrick have secured sponsorship and spent millions to build, house and prepare their fleets and to groom drivers for the future. Suddenly their buildings are to be left half-empty, their young drivers cut loose?
And how is the ownership rule to be enforced?
To: steveegg; All
Busch qualifying up next......
Tony & Zippy work together on the Busch series #19 for the first time. Wondering who the owner of this car is?
Not that I have esp or anything, but the 5 car wrecks. I was gonna say before qualifying which lap would he wreck on.
The only thing Jr likes about the 81 car is the color. :(
