Atomic Annie, an 8 inch gun IIRC.
Pretty system too, got to see her at Fort Sill.

Were you the one that told me you saw it in a museum? I didn't know much about her till then and once I knew her name I checked her out on the web. That's an exciting lady!

Yuppers, it's a beautiful artillery piece.

I love the sound of field artillery and often crank up the surround sound and fire off a few rounds for Annie.

I loved doing the real thing, but with the 105's.
(I miss it, I will admit. There's something about the propellant smoke that's addictive.)

That's a childhood experience that's happily followed me these many years, smells. I caught the smell of a hay loft the other day and all sorts of memories came back, like the smell of gunpowder, and then they trigger even more memories.

Memory is tied in heavily with one's sense of smell.
Sometimes I smell certain things and I'm 'back then' in memory.
I'll sometimes even 'see' what the memory is attached to.

I smell artillery propellant and I'm told I get a wild gleam in the eyes.
Certain perfumes, and some gunpowders do it as well.
Oil based art paint also nails the memory buttons hard.
