The town I live in has an intersection of Robert E. Lee Drive and Jefferson Davis Drive.
Some rando takes the place of this great man
I still have an unfired, cased 1851 .36 cal. Colt Navy with accessories “Robert E. Lee” roll engraved on the barrel special edition made at the Colt factory in Hartford in 1971.
Eisenhower on Robert E Lee:
General Robert E. Lee was, in my estimation, one of the supremely gifted men produced by our Nation…. he was thoughtful yet demanding of his officers and men, forbearing with captured enemies but ingenious, unrelenting and personally courageous in battle, and never disheartened by a reverse or obstacle. Through all his many trials, he remained selfless almost to a fault and unfailing in his faith in God. Taken altogether, he was noble as a leader and as a man, and unsullied as I read the pages of our history.
From deep conviction, I simply say this: a nation of men of Lee’s calibre would be unconquerable in spirit and soul. Indeed, to the degree that present-day American youth will strive to emulate his rare qualities, including his devotion to this land as revealed in his painstaking efforts to help heal the Nation’s wounds once the bitter struggle was over, we, in our own time of danger in a divided world, will be strengthened and our love of freedom sustained.
Such are the reasons that I proudly display the picture of this great American on my office wall.
Sincerely,
Dwight D. Eisenhower
People who what relics of the past removed because they do not like to be reminded of their history are condemning future generations to repeat that history. There is a reason you can visit Auschwitz. It is there as proof of history! If the concentration camps did not still exist people would say their history did not happen! If these horrible places actually existed, they would be preserved as proof of what man should not repeat. The purpose of history is not to appease someone’s feelings, it is to remind the future generations of what was great and what was horrible.
This.
Those that don't like the words to the song Dixie, are not going to like the words of the U.S. National Anthem.
Those that do not like the Confederate flag, will probably kneel to protest the American flag; or burn it.
Those that want to rip down statues of Robert E. Lee do not like monuments to farmer George Washington.
Those that do not respect the clear language of the 9th and 10th amendments will repudiate the Declaration of Independence.
My wife is from China and I have toured the country with her quite a bit. Mao did the same thing in China during “The Great Leap Forward”. Mao destroyed countless artifacts dating back thousands of years to eradicate China’s cultural heritage. We visited a village outside of Beijing that was spared by the people who lived there. They were able to save it by plastering all of the intricate artwork with mud so that Mao’s thugs ignored it.
RE: Mao destroyed countless artifacts dating back thousands of years to eradicate China’s cultural heritage.
That wasn’t the only time it happened in China. Over 2000 years ago, after unifying China, Emperor Qin Shi Huang implemented the burning of books (mostly Confucian and Daoist texts) and burying of scholars — because they memorized Confucian teachings and were able to replicate them through memory (213–212 BCE). It was intended to consolidate power, enforce ideological conformity under Legalism, and eliminate dissenting voices.
By destroying rival philosophical texts and punishing scholars, Qin sought to prevent comparisons with past dynasties and ensure loyalty to his centralized rule.
The story comes from Records of the Grand Historian by Sima Qian, written during the Han dynasty. Modern historians debate its accuracy, but agree Qin suppressed intellectual diversity.
Competing schools of thought that were the people’s heritage till his reign (Confucianism, Daoism, Mohism) were seen as threats to unity.
100% true. I hve Lee blood and I’m proud of it.
Everytime I ask what the end goal of the godless progs are I just remember the scene from The Dark Night,
“Some men just want to watch the world burn.”
They seek to destroy anything good and beautiful. They hate themselves. They are disciples of Marx who hated the world and wanted it destroyed. Satan at least wanted his own kingdom. These democrat party demons want everything destroyed.
I read a biography of Lee and it said Lee was so highly regarded by all that he could have had command of the Union army but at that time it wasn’t uncommon for people to feel a greater loyalty to their state than the Federal government so he chose Virginia hence the Confederacy.
So who was she ?
Jefferson Davis' father fought in the Continental Army. Robert E. Lee's father was Light Horse Harry Lee - Washington's best Cavalry commander. The troops they led in battle were the grandchildren of the Founding Fathers. If you could call the Confederates traitors and demonize/delegitimize them as slaveowners, then the exact same logic applies to George Washington (Lee's Wife's grandfather via adoption), Thomas Jefferson, George Mason, Patrick Henry, James Madison, John Jay, James Monroe, etc. If you could say the Confederate Battle Flag stood for slavery then you could say the same about the Stars and Stripes - after all slavery existed for far longer under it and unlike the Stars and Bars, it flew over a huge number of slave ships.
I pointed this out back in the early 1990s and was told "oh no no.....you're just being paranoid.....that would never happen". It took less than a generation and it happened. You had to be very shortsighted if you couldn't see what was coming but many - yes including many on the Right - were just that shortsighted.
The Left knew exactly what they were doing when they invited Right leaning Northerners and Midwesterners to participate in the attack on Southerners. Far too many did. That's why I wasn't bothered nearly as much as many others were when the feminazis and Academia and Klantifa and BLM started attacking pretty much every straight White Male in history. I told ya'll so.
Deo Vindice.
Icky Nikki Haley took down the confederate flag that flew proudly over the SC capitol because a nut killed blacks in a church. There was zero connection between the two. She folded to this leftist drive to erase history. Never vote for Icky Nikki Haley.
From that very moment, I swore I would oppose Nikki Haley anytime she ran for anything. No, you don’t get to just throw away my heritage and my history and then expect me to be anything but a bitter enemy for the rest of your life.
Eff you Nimrata.
...I agree...!! lived in the Commonwealth of Virginia for almost a half-century and never heard of this person....never...traveled all over Virginia on business and pleasure and never once came across that name....after Next January, it will be The People’s Democratic Republic of Virginia....
