Crap. And my shocked face is in the shop.
Burns is a moron. All of his dumbass documentaries are full of crap.
the only Ken Burns Film I ever loved... 8 mins worth it

Burns' Civil War series was surprisingly objective and balanced. Not only did it avoid demonizing the Confederacy, but the series extensively interviewed (and based a great deal of the series on the writings of) Shelby Foote, who was criticized by much of the establishment for his sympathetic views of the antebellum South.
Obviously, like any mainstream documentary about the Civil War, there were the usual bromides about the evils of racial prejudice, but since the slavery issue was so central to the Civil War it's not as though the issue could be sidelined.
In sharp contrast, the American Revolution had almost nothing to do with slavery at all, apart from Lord Dunmore's attempt to recruit escaped slaves to the Loyalist cause. Yet the new series tries to make slavery (and to a lesser extent, various Indian tribes) the central focus. A foreigner with little knowledge of US history would think that the American Revolution was being fought solely for the right to enslave blacks and to displace Indians.
While the series does contain some excellent material, including the voice acting, any gems are buried deeply in a lot of woke manure.
As expected. A well financed leftist who hates America. This crap will be shown in schools all over the country bank it,
“A foreigner with little knowledge of US history would think that the American Revolution was being fought solely for the right to enslave blacks and to displace Indians.”
And that foreigner’s name is Ken Burns.
“A well financed leftist who hates America.”
And never forget that some of that financing comes from the US taxpayer. Nothing like being forced to pay up to be insulted.
2025? Of course it’s going to be woke.
Pretty much every kid graduating from high school these days knows absolutely nothing about the American Revolution except for the fact that George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and various other luminaries owned slaves (and so by implication were irredeemably evil, just like the nation that they founded).
But there is also plenty of quality and accurate information, great voicing and excellent recreations featuring the correct weapons, equipment, and uniforms of that period.
Weeping and tearing of garments shouldn't impress anyone if they actually watch the series. Separate the wheat from the chaff and enjoy it.
The guy made a baseball documentary without any baseball players. Does this have the same droopy dog narrator as his other boorfests?
Excellent article for posting here. Great references and documentation to support the article’s thesis. I especially liked the lib smack downs on the assertion about the Iroquois Confederacy being “middle school history”.

The civil war had nothing to do with slavery. It was all about the supremacy of the federal government. Note that even now the supremacy clause is invoked over the federal power to regulate immigration. Lincoln did not get one vote in the south in the 1860 election. He didn’t even appear on the ballot. Lincoln was imposed on the south by the north. The true root cause of the civil war is that the south realized that it would become a permanent minority under the constitution. Lincoln said in his first inaugural address he would accept the continuation of slavery if it preserved the union. Lincoln was forced to invoke the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 to give the war weary north a moral crusade to justify the oceans of blood that was being shed to maintain the supremacy of the north. Ken Burns Civil War is a superficial comic book version of American history.
Mr Burns! I have Darryl Cooper on the phone for you! Do you want to take it, or should I take a message?
“Separate the wheat from the chaff and enjoy it.”
So you’re OK with your money being used to produce chaff?? Got it!
Ken seems to have taken a hit since pot has been legalized in many places...
Watched Episode 1 and will reserve judgement until more episodes are watched.
It is defunded, no? What they do with their money seems to be their business, now that the taxpayer is not involved.
