The Mob doesn’t do a damn thing out of the goodness of their heart. The WWII story is more myth then reality. They’ll do the bidding of who’s pile of dollars are larger.

Franzese and some Mafia members may feel that way, but historically, the Mafia has frequently helped left-wing labor unions and their political allies, as in the case of the Patriarca family and LIUNA supporting the Clintons, to take one of many examples. That said, Mamdani might not be good for business, which is the bottom line. It’s strictly business.
