I apologize, misinterpreted. For me retired active top four, worked within the Department of the Army, and then the DOD. I was over 35 years. But what’s a decade...just time.

There are so many people trying to make the military forces so iherently evil with comments that demonize our past we get a little short tempered (and aggressive) on this topic.

It takes a special person to do what we did going into atmospheres most people hide under the bed in, going through the physical and mental pain we suffered for our beliefs and continue to this day after years of retirement, and the pain and stress it caused our families and friends never knowing who might knock at the door to give them the information.

I would get the call and donning the garb, grabbing my bags, and head into the world without telling my wife and kids where I was going, when I’d be back, and if I can contact her at any point. I’m sure you did the same thing. Are we special? Roger that. But the public will never know just how much. Like the Army says, “This we’ll defend.”
