It’s painful.
My username is newish - but that’s more because life intervened - hotmail got shut down, etc. But I remember LOLing Dan Rather’s faceplant. I remember worming through the Clinton sleaze- the perjurer and the rapist, even before PIAPS took center stage.
Sure, there was plenty of throwaway silliness - I enjoyed it. I contributed to it. I still have no regrets over it.
But - I felt like we actually had principles. I remember W expanding Medicare (Part D). Many people gritting our teeth over entitlement expansion, understanding it was politically necessary and advantageous, but still objecting - free of being cursed as some kind of apostate - on principle.
I imagine - like you - my principles haven’t changed: Individual liberty, small government, capitalism, all leading to Reagan’s shining city on a hill.
We always adhered to a set of principles that were agnostic, indifferent, to any single elected official.
The economic threads nowadays are the worst. They feel like nightmare reruns of DUmmies and KOSkids posts we used to mock. Save me, daddy government! Feed me, mommy government. Employ me, daddy government. Protect me from the bad people! The Constitution? We must go beyond it! It needs to be “reinterpreted” to meet our feelings. Separation of powers? We need to suspend them for a Great Leader.
Lord knows there was never - and will never - be any way I’d have voted for the affirmative action, empty pantsuit (part 2!) figurehead of creeping socialism... but if my vote actually went for a different jersey of creeping socialism?
God help us all. We’re done.
THE SOONER THE BETTER
I totally agree with you. He needs to do it now.
Your comments remind me of the lefts Saul alinsky tactic of using our own values as a weapon against us.
In case you haven't noticed, those charged and empowered aren't doing a damn thing to stop this destruction of our nation.
So I ask , Capn disgusted , what's your idea of what should be done ?
There are millions who have infiltrated our country coast to coast.
You want to give these illegals aliens due process ?
We do it your way it will take decades to get them out.
Wait till these tyrants , who are as bad or worse than mad George the 3rd, pull their heads out? , and magically do their jobs ?
Your patriotism will be moot in a short while.
You strike me as a duplicous narrative control cubicle dei woke Obama era ‘Capn’.
In case you can't tell, you disgust me too.
Spit.
My first suggestion would be learning to spell better so I can better understand you and respond to your questions.
Did anyone go visit the Copperheads Lincoln kicked out of the union?
However, my dear cuz1961 - if I understand your spittle, I would say this:
1) The left will seek out some cause célèbres and the courts will deal deal with them. I’m OK with that. It’s how our system of governments works - and should work.
2) I do not blame the courts - mostly, exceptions exist - for overly broad stays because again, the government opened the door to such stays. Every administration in my entire life - including the ones I hated - has deported literally millions of illegals. They didn’t face court stays and broader problems because they didn’t dig their heels in on stupid, individual situations.
3) I am also perfectly fine - even *support* - reform to various visa rules, asylum rules, etc. I don’t disagree - at all - that they’ve been taken advantage of. Nonetheless, I believe in the rule of law, not “rule of feelings”. Change the law.
4) I am also pro-immigration. LEGAL immigration. I welcome anyone who believes this country can provide a better life for someone and their family.
5) Ironically? Despite the propaganda? If the left *actually* thinks importing immigrants will help them electorally? They’re idiots. I’m perfectly happy to use them as useful idiots because historically? The Vietnamese boat people, Cubans in the 80s, you name it. Those people are *thrilled* to become US citizens and they vote for conservatives because they understand fleeing socialist hellholes and believe in a nation where a)you follow the law, and then b)you can thrive, your children will thrive even more, etc.
Oh, and
6)I haven’t had a cubicle in 20 years. I have a very nice corner office with a great view. I got it due to my own hard work - not a gift the government gave me. I believe in a nation where everyone should have a chance to achieve the same.

WOW
Didn't get far before you showed your bs .
I expected better subterfuge to from you.
Didn't take long to smoke you out, I can smell your kind a mile off.
No narrative control cubicle doughnuts for you comrade I bet .
AND
I see you dodged my question.
I expected better subterfuge from you.
That's your opinion.
It's also the opinion of the victors that gets to tell the story. Today, we call it misinformation from the likes of the mainstream media -- like the NYT, as an example.
Not all share your opinion.
Furthermore, let's hope and pray that Trump does not end up like the tyrant Lincoln or someone like JFK who bucked the system and crossed swords with the wrong group and then paid with his life, too.
Unless they grossly violate the law in a pedestrian way, most of them would need to be impeached, their district reassigned or the like.
Suspending HC is IMO the most appropriate, constitutional response to the current situation in its entirety.
Also, instead of “one big, beautiful bill” that’s taking half a year to pass, deportation funding should have been the top early priority of Congress.
If they were capable of rising to that level of enlightenment, wisdom, and lucidity, they would have done so long before now.
The government is allowed to suspend habeas corpus in cases of rebellion or invasion, or if the public safety requires it.
Done deal
