Yeah that one certainly takes the cake 🎂
No such thing as a *protestant Catholic church*.
The things that make Catholicism Catholic aren’t found in most non-Catholic churches. Whatever Catholicism is becoming, it ISN’T *Protestant.*
Perhaps closer to islam what with the direction the pope is taking the church. And the Catholic College of Cardinals elected him, so there’s no way the rot can be attributed to just one errant pope.
That Catholics are continuing to defend this organization is unbelievable.
Also, the pride exuded in even the very first sentence of this thread is appalling and has no place in God’s economy.
The Catholic Church has more than enough of their own problems. They practice pagan worship. They have added and taken away from the Bible. I attended a Catholic service for my uncle’s funeral. That was a creepy experience.
What is the base of your criteria of discernment, of deciding what is right or wrong???
Everything you write is based on your own subjective opinion!
There are thousands of independent protestant groups, with the same Bible, same Jesus Christ, same God, but they interpret many very important elements of the faith in totally contradictory ways! Jesus knew this would happen and so He founded one Church with the promise that “the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18-19).
The true Church does not depend on the sinners who make up the Church, but on the promise of Christ!
As was included in the article:
Protestantism didn’t get rid of the papacy. It made every man his own pope.
A large portion of Protestants are ignorant of the early Church.
Yet, the early Church received its faith directly from the Apostles.
The early Church was Catholic in its theology:
1) The real presence of the Eucharist.
2) Baptismal regeneration.
3) Apostolic succession.
That’s the folly of sola scriptura. More than a thousand years later creating a Christianity that is foreign to the faith that Jesus gave to his disciples. And yet knowing this Protestants will still follow their teaching tradition.
Dr. Peter Kreeft, a former protestant convert to Catholicism, wrote: “Let 500 people interpret the writings in the Bible privately, and you will soon find 500 new sects founded due to different interpretations.” Protestants are their own pope, interpreting the Bible according to their personal interpretation.
Jesus said: “Go out to the whole world: proclaim the Gospel to all creation” (Mk 16:15). Jesus never asked us to start our own church!
Protestantism gets weak Catholics. Catholicism gets strong Protestants!
The first Thanksgiving in America was a Catholic Mass, not Protestant Liturgy FB 231124
Jesus never said this: “And so I say to you, you are Luther, and upon this Luther I will build my churches, 15 centuries later from now. Until all theologians, saints, and Church leaders will be de-voided from the Holy Spirit and will be incapable of interpreting my words correctly.”
St. John Henry Newman, who was Anglican and became Catholic, said: “One does not simply become steeped in history and remain protestant.
If you have true humility, you will end up with God for eternity. True humility means to accept that the truth comes from God not from me. But many believe that all their thoughts are infallible, and that God approves what they think.
Humility is to accept who God is and who we are, creatures, not the Creator.
If you are interested, I have written many articles in this period of great confusion and of the great apostasy before the revelation of the Antichrist (2Thess 2:3-8): http://josephdwight.blogspot.com
Yes, this is the period of the great purification of the Church and of the world (Mt 24:21). This is the period of the crucifixion of the Body of Christ, the Church, very similar to 2000 years ago when Christ was crucified, and afterwards there was the resurrection. One finds in the Catechism of the Catholic Church the following:
The Church’s ultimate trial
675 Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers. [573] The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth [574] will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. the supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh. [575]
676 The Antichrist’s deception already begins to take shape in the world every time the claim is made to realize within history that messianic hope which can only be realized beyond history through the eschatological judgement. the Church has rejected even modified forms of this falsification of the kingdom to come under the name of millenarianism, [576] especially the “intrinsically perverse” political form of a secular messianism. [577]
677 The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom only through this final Passover, when she will follow her Lord in his death and Resurrection. [578] The kingdom will be fulfilled, then, not by a historic triumph of the Church through a progressive ascendancy, but only by God’s victory over the final unleashing of evil, which will cause his Bride to come down from heaven. [579] God’s triumph over the revolt of evil will take the form of the Last Judgement after the final cosmic upheaval of this passing world. [580]
