Retribution for an insult or a political defeat should never be the aim of a government action. What was done to General Flynn was a crime, an illegal prosecution for crimes of which he was innocent. The FBI had to get Flynn out of the way because they knew he knew too much and would be fatal to Crossfire Hurricane. This was a grotesque conspiracy and Flynn was targeted because he was a straight-shooter, an honest man in a den of vipers and scum.
