And gawd, I hate all the sniping that goes on in these threads. Some have become unreadable, given all of the comments about fellow FReepers, rather than the topic at hand (Ukraine, anyone?)
That said, everyone is HALF right! While under this scenario Speaker Johnson does not get the title of VP nor does he get to execute the most practical role of VP, namely the tie breaking vote in the Senate, he DOES inherit the most important Constitutional role of the VP, namely being next in line for the Presidency should something happen to the President.
And since I am ranting, the lack of Constitutional knowledge present in many of these threads is disappointing.

I tend to agree. Harris may think it gives her some plus-up on vote, but I can’t understand how you’d believe that.

I’ve noticed her ramping up commercials in the last few days. This must be their strategy to use commercials instead of interviews or campaign rallies.
However... the Democrats have deviated SO far from the rules, SO often and for SO long, that almost any ‘breach’ or infraction is thinkable, by now!
Almost anyone can be pardoned, even expected, to believe things wholly illicit and unthinkable just 4 years ago!

I was thinking the same thing. Joe Biden is getting worse, and the Democrats are desperate to give Kamala Harris any kind of edge.
If she does poorly at the debate why install her as pres and expose her incompetence internationally? My idea is if she crashes & burns at the debate she’s history. The dems will dump her somehow. They already did this to a sitting pres and basically sidelined him. No, I still think the dems will wi d up running someone else at the last minute. My money is on Big Mike still.

They will do this in the hope of getting a quick boost in the polls. The bump would only last a week so expect this in very late October. But it might be sooner if they’re desperate.

After the debate I can see them wanting to replace Harris, but I don't know how that works.
Trump doesn't just win debates, he destroys his opponent and ends careers.
I've thought this for a while. The dems want to be able to portray her as "the incumbent and as a problem solver", and if it is close, they think this will help push her over. Keep in mind, the ill-informed and low IQ usually go for incumbents. If they didn't, we wouldn't need TERM LIMITS for congress.
I agree. If Kamala has a bad debate and starts sinking in the polls, that will be the next step. Her ads will say: "She stepped up in a time of crisis and is guiding the nation with a steady hand...."

I think this will be the October surprise. Biden will not have a choice. Either resign or have an untimely death.
It may be the only choice the Deep State has left. Other than trying to kill Trump again. I believe they will stop at nothing to keep him from being POTUS. Their lives depend on it.
It is not just women. It is Democrats in general. I was talking to one of the candidates running for US2 Congressional district in NH a week ago. He said they had done a poll of the key issues for NH voters. With Republicans and Independents it was the economy and immigration/the border. With Democrats it was abortion and climate change.
