But it's hard to believe that such a large number of people could be so stupid that they don't even realize that releasing the same violent serial criminals again and again and again would end up leading to a lot of crime that could have been prevented.

It's easier (for me) to believe that they are stupid (combined with being superficially self-righteous [while being secretly plagued by self-loathing], unaccountable, unwilling to consider the long-range consequences of their short-term virtue-signaling, etc.) than that they are enacting a concerted, long-term strategy.

Though I say it’s a side effect, I’ll bet your hypothesis is still correct for some people who do enjoy seeing innocent white people hurt (because of reverse racism). I hope the number of people who enjoy seeing the pain is small, but you never know...there’s a lot of hate out there.

It’s not so much that NYC officials want to hurt citizens. They are just terrified of prosecuting blacks and illegal aliens.

Liberals long time dream, is to federalize state and local law enforcement. Although it has been brewing a long time, George Floyd’s death was the beginning of the end, which ushered in “defund the police, BLM riots directed at LE. Police forces all over the country have been hampered ever since, crime has risen exponentially and will continue to rise until it is so out if control that the FEDS will have no choice but to take control. (Also another reason for open borders).
