I DISAGREE, If the Petroleum Producing companies would just STOP All Sales and Deliveries within 300 Miles of DC, I’m sure they would show the country how easy it could be done.
There is no such a thing as a fossil fuel.
Except for coal.
There are problems with plastics in the form of pollution, toxic stabilizer chemicals like PFAs, and the harmful effects of micro and nanoplastic particles on living organisms — especially humans. My guess is that alternatives to plastics will be developed and preferred, with fossil fuel lubricants also yielding to various green lubricants. The extra cost implied by these development may end up being minimal against the gains from new nuclear process energy sources.
“... green organic lubricants ...”
Like whale oil perhaps?
Exactly! Hydrocarbons are produced deep in the mantle due to chemical processes. (The heat and pressure there help.)
Vegetable oil based lubricants are increasingly used in heavy equipment that operates in environmentally sensitive areas.
